Commander’s Message Auxiliary President’s Message
Comrades, Brothers and Sisters,
As stated in January’s Bugle, our
Comrade and Auxiliary Officer nomi-
nations for the 2018-2019 year is fast
approaching. Next month, we will
nominate those individuals that we as
a Post members, believe can lead our
Post in all its endeavors for the next
operational year. Some of you may
have a list of nominees or an idea about nominating a specif-
ic person for a position, while some may be content with just
accepting the outcome of the nomination and election pro-
cess.
Just a little advice to those who plan to participate in the
nomination process. Look at the overall body of work that
an individual has on his/her resume regarding service to our
Veterans and displayed willingness to continue serving our
Post. Nominations should not be a popularity contest and
personal bias should not enter in to the equation. In the end,
what matters the most is that the individuals are commitment
to our Veterans and our Post, and will be able to carry out
the duties for that particular position as outlined in VFW National By-laws.
Likewise if you are a nominee, don’t just accept the position
because “nobody else wants it” or just to fill a spot. Ensure
that you can fully make the commitment of time and person-
al effort. I’m challenging all Post Comrades who are able, to
attend our March 15th Post meeting for nominations and our
April Post meeting for elections. If you are considering
throwing your hat into the ring as a nominee but can’t attend
the meeting, please make your desires known to someone
who has your verbal authorization to speak on your behalf
AND, provide a written statement of nomination acceptance
to any current elected Post Officer. Finally, if you choose to
just accept the outcome and not participate, please support
those officers who are ultimately elected.
These are exciting times and the decisions we make will
determine the direction of our Post for the next year. There
will likely be a turnover of officers in some positions, so
your participation in this upcoming process is KEY!
GO TEAM!
Respectfully,
Brett Taylor
Commander, VFW Post 2111
Hello Sisters, Brothers, Com-
rades, and Friends,
Yes it’s been another whirlwind
couple of weeks for the Auxilia-
ry in the month of January. We
were honored to have both our
department president and depart-
ment commander here to visit us
for the Official Visit to District
1. They were amazed of the work that is taken place at next
step service dogs in Escondido for our veterans. They visit
many post and auxiliaries while they were here. They were
fed well by all and the Hawaiian theme banquet was great.
Then of course it’s down to the Don Diego Post where they
both had to earn their sombrero by drinking at least one shot
of tequila. The following weekend we were off to the C of A
meeting held in Sacramento. I have never left those meet-
ings without learning something new. It’s also great to see
all your friends from up and down the state of California. As
I write this newsletter, at this moment, I’m at Stand Down
North in Vista this weekend. I will be able to report more in
the March newsletter. All I can tell you now, it’s been in-
credible.
Membership is working hard to get us at 100%. We’re not
there yet. Again we need your help also. If your dues are not
paid very soon you will no longer be a member of the auxil-
iary in good standing. If you let your dues laps then you
have to start all over again as a new member. We need you
as a member because you count when we take our numbers
to Washington and fight for the benefits of our veterans,
after all that’s why we are here.
I am so happy to announce that Tiny is bringing back the
rummage sale. She has set it for March 16th. There’s a flyer
with all the information. We need your donations and re-
member all the money we receive all goes to the veterans
programs. I want to thank you now for cleaning out all your
closets and garages for this event.
We had a great time at the membership meeting in January
at the Ramona post. February it will be at Alpine. If anybody
wants a ride please let me know and we’ll carpool to Alpine.
Please come down to our meeting on Thursday, February
8th at 6:30 pm. We’ve been keeping her meetings down to
an hour. That’s your way of knowing where the money is
being spent and what is going on with the auxiliary. I just know many of you have some great ideas for us. So bring
them down, we would like to hear them. Don’t forget to read
the Calendar there’s so much going on at #2111. Thank you.

Dear Post 2111 Members, Families and Friends,
Please welcome these New Members to the Post:
Lloyd Bertalot; Navy, Desser t Storm, Annual
Christopher Stephens; Navy, GWOT, Annual
Angel Zacarias; Army, Afghanistan, LIFE
Thank you all for your Service!
As we know, having a strong membership is vital to every
Post. Yet some veterans move, and some have passed to
Post Everlasting. We can honor those who came before us
by a loyal duty to maintain our Post and to assist enlisting
new members, on a continuous basis. At present, we are
at 94.29% of our 12 month goal, ending June 1.
Please be aware that a casual “good word” from you to a
friend, family or acquaintance, about Membership, can
get us to our 100% Post goal! Just ask for a Membership
Envelope, next to the bar , to give to a prospective re-
cruit that explains choices. Or ask the Veteran to call me,
for any questions. Your personal interest in preserving a
vigorous Post is always appreciated!

February 2017 Membership Report House Committee Report
Dear Comrades, Sisters,
Brothers, and Friends,
As our year marches on,
we mourn the passing of
House Committee Mem-
ber, Larry Fuller. May his
laughter ring through
Heaven, as it did here in our Post. Fair Winds and Fol-
lowing Seas, Comrade. In his absence, we would like to
welcome newly elected House Committee Member, Ron
Keyser. Thank you, Ron, for stepping up to the plate and
becoming an active and vital member of our Post.
The Meat Raffle in January went well, and we look for-
ward to another one in a couple months. Also, our Recog-
nition Day for all who donated to the new roof went just
okay…Thank you to All who helped set up and to all who
donated and showed up to the event.
In March, we will be having a Laughlin Trip…prices and
sign up sheets will be out about February 1st. Prices will
be determined soon and will be posted.
A special Thanks to Frank Corona for all the hard work
he has done painting the stairs, doors, and other trim
around the Post. Frank is also the one who cleans up the
parking lot and stairwells, so give him a big Thanks when
you see him.
Don’t forget that we have nominations in March. Please
think about becoming an active member and attending the
meetings.
Yours in Comradeship,
Ed Hamilton, House Committee Chairman
“CHAPLAIN’S NOTE”
We are saddened at the loss of a great friend and active
comrade, Larry Fuller. He joined the forces of the Eternal
Father on January 16. Honors and interment will be
scheduled at a later date.
Please continue to pray for those who are even now in the
service of our great nation on foreign fields and at home.
Remember their families who stand at home keeping the
home fires burning.
May God’s grace and mercy which far surpasses all hu-
man understanding continue to rest on you and your fami-
lies as we proceed into this new year.
Let’s keep our eyes open for opportunities to serve.
God Bless
