CDS vs KKFS CDS High School Issue 19: April 17th, 2015 Weekly Newsletter CDS vs BISC Wednesday saw the visit of BISC to play against CDS boys team. The boys put in an impressive display in the rain to claim a 7-0 victory. Scorers Miguel Batanero, James Park, Kyung Bin Lim, Billy Jeon, Bum Joon Kim (2), and Jiwon Kang CDS Spirit Week Saturday saw CDS Girls team finally get the opportunity to play a full-sided game and they demonstrated that they are going to be force this season. They dominated possession throughout. With playmaker Jinnie Yoo controlling the game from the center of midfield she was able to spread play to the fast moving forward trio of Chae Rim Park, Sarah Lee and Hoyeon Cho. The constant waves of attack lead to an early goal for Chae Rim Park. The second half was more evenly balanced though in truth CDS goalkeeper Sarah Park never looked troubled. So it came as no surprise when a quick passing move on the left led to Jinnie slotting home CDS’s second. A great performance by all but especially impressive were 9 th grader Chelsea Jung and debutant Zoe Yoon. Next Friday sees the first game of a double header against Chadwick lets hope the girls keep up the impressive form. Scorers: Jinnie Yoo, Chae Rim Park CDS Boys 0-1 KKFS CDS boys gave up a goal after 18seconds then spent 90 minutes trying to break down a resolute KKFS defense. More commitment and creativity will be required if they are to defeat local rival Chadwick in the upcoming derbies. As well as the alternative outfits that were on display throughout Spirit Week the highlight was undoubtedly the talent show that was held on Tuesday. From Eddie’s harmonica to Sarah’s marimba their was plenty of talent on display. Some of the judging was harsh as Mr.”Simon Cowell)”Pak laughed the 12 th grade boys off stage but it was a very good humored event that really demonstrated the sense of community within the high school. Weekly Newsletter

In the week of May 11th to 15th CDS will be holding a silent auction of student artwork. Submissions are due by May 5th to the Art teachers.

The work that students can submit is not limited to work they've created this year at CDS. This can be artwork from home, work from last year, work from their hagwon, etc... so long as they've produced it and prepared it for display it's fine to submit.

The proceeds of the auction will be donated to “Givu Effect” which is a local non-profit organization located in An-san, Gyeong-gi province that provides academic enrichment, counseling and support to students who are of limited economic means and resources. Our donation will be used for running programs, providing light meals and supporting their upcoming field trip to varied locations in May. For more information about the charity, please visit www.givueffect.com. For more information about submitting work to the auction please speak to either Ms. Shin or Ms. Pantano. The auction is not limited to students currently taking art classes
