TRANSCRIPT

As Walton County recovers from the recession, Cecilia Jones knows that it’s time to build a stronger economic climate for all of our citizens. Cecilia wants Walton County to be a place where our children and grandchildren can find great jobs and raise their families. She understands that Walton County needs to diversify its economy, attract new businesses, reduce senseless and unnecesary government regulations, reduce government spending, and reduce the tax burden on residents.

Reduce the tax burden and cut spending. Cecilia knows that when taxpayers and small businesses get to keep more of their hard-earned money, everyone is better off. Cecilia will fight for immediate tax relief for residents, maintaining or reducing millage rates by streamlining government spending. She will also work to rein in excessive compensation for top county executives.

Use BP settlement funds to support small business success. Walton County was awarded BP settlement dollars because our small businesses lost money during the oil spill. Cecilia believes that BP funds should be used to strengthen and support job growth. For example, Cecilia will work to encourage the development of a plant and fish hatchery, which could create 100 new high-paying jobs while helping our environment. She also supports efforts to attract the high-yield floriculture business to farmland in North Walton, and will explore the creation of a small business “incubator” to help new and prospective businesses succeed.

Work with state and regional economic development agencies to promote Walton County to potential new businesses. Cecilia will fight to make sure that our state tax dollars go towards promoting our area, not just funding economic development efforts in Central and South Florida. She’ll partner with Florida’s Great Northwest and Enterprise Florida to establish Walton County and Northwest Florida as an ideal location for new business growth.

REDUCE THE TAX BURDEN & CREATE NEW JOBS

STRENGTHENING OUR ECONOMY

Cecilia Jones’ plan to create new jobs and support small businesses in Walton County.

Paid political advertisement paid for and approved by Cecilia Jones, Republican, for Walton County Commissioner District 2.

Stop overregulation and make Walton County “business friendly.” Cecilia knows that small and family-owned businesses have the best chance to succeed when they aren’t burdened with unnecessary government regulations. Cecilia will lead the fight to reevaluate all of Walton County’s business and farming ordinances and regulations, with the goal of eliminating excessive and senseless regulations.

Encourage more input from small business owners. Cecilia believes that instead of being in contention with small business owners, county government should better partner with small businesses to encourage smart growth. Cecilia will work to encourage more input from small business owners and create more opportunities for business owners to have their voices heard. She’ll also work to strengthen the relationship between our first responders and the business community, for the safety of all Walton County residents.

STAND UP FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

“I love Walton County. I was born and grew up in DeFuniak Springs and I spent my summers at the beach. As a young girl, my grandparents owned a café here in Walton County. From them, I learned the important values of hard work and personal responsibility. And I learned that small businesses, and low taxes, are

essential to a vibrant, growing economy.

I’m running for county commissioner because, as a conservative county, it’s time to start governing in a conservative way. We need to let citizens keep

more of their hard-earned money. We need to create new jobs. We need to develop a plan for economic growth. And we need to stop punishing our small businesses. If you honor me with your vote on August 26, I promise you this: I’ll

lead the fight for these shared principles, and I’ll never back down.”
