Planning for the Future

This requires encouraging and training new entrants to the sector to ensure we maintain the ability to provide.
“Organisations are reporting that a growing percentage of their procurement teams are nearing retirement.”
Procurement Capability
Procurement People of Tomorrow It is a Scotland-wide initiative led by the Scottish
Government in partnership with Academia, Skills Development Scotland and the industry. It is not public sector.
“Our ambitious plans include– working with schools, curriculum developers and careers advisors to build awareness of procurement in schools, colleges and universities, – promoting procurement as a viable and desirable career option, indeed a career of choice – creating multiple pathways into procurement and supply chain profession. – engaging industry to provide opportunities for young people”
Schools Engagement
Schools programme, partnership between City of Glasgow College, the Scottish Government and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) for 16–17 year olds: – to learn about the theory of procurement,
