COMPUTER EDUCATION COURSES
There are two types of Computer Courses
1. Office Automation(O.A.)- 6 months
2. Graphic Designer Course(GDC/DTP) – 6 months
Existing Institutions intending to establish and start Computer Education Courses in their Institutions shall make an application to the Registering Authority in Form-1 as the case may be in the month of April & October
Conditions for grant Recognition• Provide separate or partitioned accommodation to
run the Computer classes• Provide Computers Tables and Chairs for each
candidate• Appoint qualified instructors• Collect the fees at the rate fixed by the Department• Maintain separate admission, attendance and fee
registers & records for the Computer section• Provide Minimum Six/Four Computer Systems &
One Printer & battery backup(UPS)
Admission of Students & Courses of study
Students seeking admission to the Basic Courses in Computer Education, Office Automation Course must have passed SSLC Examination.
For Advance Course of Graphic Designer Course must have passed SSLC and O.A. to admit advance course.
Student shall be admitted to the Computer Education Courses in the first week of June & January of every year
Computer Examination to be conducted in the last week of July and December every year
The list of the students on roll on the 10th of July & February every year shall be submitted to the Registering Authority to enable him to submit the list to the Board.

Duration of Classes
The duration of courses six months and each class shall be of one hour per day. Three periods of theory and three periods of practical classes in a week. The classes shall be conducted only by qualified and approved instructors. The instructions shall prepare programme of work and notes of lessons well in advance & conduct the classes accordingly
Examination
The examination in Computer education shall be conducted once in the every six months, by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, during the last week of July and December month in Every year
Candidates must submit the application forms together with the prescribed examination fee prescribed by the KSEEB.
Mode of ExaminationTheory - 100 marks - duration 60 min.
Theory portions shall be objective type, fill in the blanks, true or false and matching
Practical - 80 marks - duration 120 min.
in this 4 questions, each question carry 20 marks
Viva - 20 marks
Grading System
75% above - First Class60% above-below 74% - Second Class45% above-below 59% - Pass Class
All successful candidates shall be awarded certificate by the Karnataka Secondary

Qualifications for Computer Instructors
The Instructor appointed in the Institution on PART TIME or FULL TIME basis the one of the following qualifications
• Graduate (Computer Science as one of the major subject)
• BCA• Diploma in Computer Science from Polytechnics
or Leading Computer Training Centers• “O” Level Certificate issued by the DOEACC

There shall be an Advisory Board for Computer Education to advise the Department
1. In matters of Policy, Syllabus and Examination Scheme2. In fixing the qualifications and Salary, Structure for
Institutions from time to time3. In fixing qualification for pupils, fee structure and
examination fee4. In fixing the parity of standards and equivalence of various
courses5. In conducting the examinations from time to time6. In recommending reference books and journals7. In any other matter referred by the Government

which contains 240 words general passage and a letter of 180 words dictated @ 60 words per minute for minutes.
• To transcribe the above into Longhand . The duration of Transcription is. (60 Minutes 1 Hrs.)
• Maximum Marks allotted for 4 minutes passage is 60 Marks and for 3 Minutes passage is 40. For mistakes committed in first 4 minute Passage, the marks have to be deducted from 60 Marks and for Mistake committed in next three minutes; the marks have to be Deducted from 40 marks allotted to it. HALF MARK TO BE DEDUCTED FOR EACH MISTAKE.
ENGLISH SHORTHAND- INTERMEDIATE GRADE Duration-6(SIX)Months
PAPER 1- Speed:90 w.p.m. 7 min. 100 marks• To take down in a simple passage of shorthand which contains
360 words general Passage and a letter of 270 words dictated at the rate of 90 words per minute.
• To transcribe the above into longhand. The duration of transcription is 75 Minutes (1Hrs. 15 Minutes).
• Maximum Marks Allotted for 4 Minutes passage is 60 Marks and for 3 Minutes Passage is 40. For mistakes committed in first 4 Minutes passage , the marks have To be deducted from 60 Marks and for mistakes committed in next three minutes; The marks have to be deducated from 40 Marks allotted to it.

• Maximum Marks allotted for 4 Minutes passage is 60 Marks and for 3 Minutes passage is 40. For mistakes committed in first 4 minutes passage, the marks have to be deducted from 60 Marks and for mistakes committed in next three minutes; the marks have to be deducted from 40 marks allotted to it.

Association Computer Preparatory Examination
The Preparatory Examination in Computer education shall be conducted once in every six months by the Commerce Educational Institutes’ Association of Karnataka, Bangalore during the last week of June & November
Candidates intending to appear for the examinations in computer education shall submit the application forms together with the examination fee prescribed by the CEIAK
