A Century of Service - Clients, Employees, Community is our 100th anniversary tagline, which we developed by thinking about how our company has been able to reach this significant milestone. These three groups of people have been the key to our past success and also represent our future prospects. Sordoni Construction has been enriched by - and in turn served - each of these groups in the best example of what a privately held, community-minded business can achieve.

For most of us at Sordoni Construction, this year represents a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of an organization celebrating a centennial. It is particularly exciting to note that as a company on the move this is represented by a diverse group of dedicated employees, from our mIS Assistant who has been with Sordoni for 46 years to our Project Execu-tive who joined us in January. We are all energized by the spirit of this accomplishment and ready to take on the challenges ahead.

In facing our future challenges it helps to have some historical perspective. our company has endured two world wars, the Great Depression, and numerous natural disasters including the Wyoming Valley’s flood from Hurricane Agnes in 1972. The fact that we have not only survived these events but have prospered and grown is a testament to everyone involved, past and present. today we are as committed as ever to rise to the occasion and are grateful for the support of our clients, employees, and community along the way.

Gateway CornersKing’s CollegeGateway Corners at King’s College opened its doors this past fall after ten months of fast-track construction. The project, in downtown Wilkes-Barre, is the result of a partnership between a private development company, non-profit orga-nizations and King’s College. Radnor Property Group, a commercial development company from Wayne, PA, invested $19.5 million to con-struct a four-story 95,000-square-foot building at the corner of North and North main Streets, replacing three blighted and underutilized prop-erties.

Designed by Williams Kinsman lewis, the building contains apartments, classrooms, a daycare center and retail space. King’s College leases a significant portion of the building from Radnor for student housing and classroom space. The top three floors, or 69,000 square feet, of the building are apartments to house 165 King’s students. most of the units consist of four bedrooms and two bathrooms with shared living and kitchen areas. 10,000 SF on the ground level houses King’s Early Educational Program, which is adjoined to a 13,000 SF day care center capable of caring for up to 154 children. A 3,000 SF restaurant anchors the ground floor corner.

Hoyt LibraryKingstonThe Hoyt library is once again operating at full capacity for the first time since the roof of the children’s wing col-lapsed following the 2007 Valentine’s Day blizzard. Working with Casaccio Architects, Sordoni’s Special Projects Divison completed the new $3.6 million expansion. The 12,000 SF addition features two levels of stacks with reading areas, a vaulted stair lobby, community rooms, administrative offices, and a section dedicated to children’s books and activities. The community celebrated the new expansion with a dedication ceremony held october 23, 2009.
