Celebrating 20 Years January—March 2013 Volume 20—No. 1
Pastor’s 50th
Anniversary Celebration
I greet the Fairview Family today that has consumed my care and concern for fifty years. I have
shared in one place fifty years with some lovely people. Yes, many have gone, but there is still a
remnant from yesterday.
First lady, Patricia Fisher Reed, joins me today in saluting you. Her
courage, patience, poise and support for fifty years as my mate, my
lover, my companion, friend, and often my advisor, the mother of our
children and in many ways, my cheerleader as preacher and pastor, it
will never be forgotten nor taken for granted.
It has been a joyful journey, an interesting journey, a journey of
challenges and some achievements. This is the year of jubilee for me.
Thanksgiving buckles over in my heart for many reasons. Gratitude
grips me today when I think of then and now. Much water has
saturated the earth and many experiences have come my way, but
through it all, I have learned to depend on the Lord. My faith is

If you believe in your heart that Jesus Is Lord, the Christ,
the Savior, the Son of the Living God, and you are willing to
turn from sin to God, then receive Jesus Christ now by faith
and pray this prayer:
Lord Jesus I am a sinner. Forgive me of all my sins, come into my heart

Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. AMEN

From the Editor’s Pen —
Greetings to you from the staff of The Fairviewan! It is our
prayer that as you entered the year 2013, you embraced it,
expecting and open to receive all of the blessings that God
has in store for you!
This year is a year of great excitement for the newsletter staff.
We are celebrating our 20th year of continuous publication.
For the past 19 years we have, month after month, shared
with our faithful readers. Whether you have witnessed with
us for the entire 19 years or if you are a new reader, we hope
the Ministry has been a blessing to you.
As we begin our 20th year, we have instituted some changes
to our publication. Foremost, we have gone from a monthly
issue to a quarterly issue. Therefore, you will only receive
the full issue four times per year—January, April, July, and
October. We are putting processes in place that we hope will
enhance our line of communication with you rather than
diminish it. We will inform you of these as they become
available. You will also notice various changes in the format
of the issue.
If you have access to the internet, we encourage you to
earmark our website, www.fairviewokc.com, and check it
regularly. This will be one method we use to promote the
church’s ministry and make other pertinent announcements.
Make us your homepage! We expect to, within the next two
months, provide you the opportunity to subscribe to an
e-newsletter so that you will automatically receive news and
updates. The quarterly issue of The Fairviewan will continue
to be posted to the church website.
If you would like to submit information for print, you may do
so by emailing [email protected] or by
submitting a hard copy. Let us hear from you! The deadline
is the first Sunday of the month preceding the month of issue.
We appreciate your loyalty. Look for us again in April 2013!
M. Patterson, Editor

still strong and my hope is built on nothing
less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
It has been an honor for me to have served in
this place all these years, to have seen so
many born and now grown and married and
parents. It has been a path for me to have
stood by so many sick beds and have stood
by open graves from time to time and stated
“ashes to ashes and dust to dust.” I thank
God for the power of recall that causes me
to visit the past with excitement and
gratitude. The burden of the past is
demanding and hopefully the future will be
friendly.
Now Fairview, after all of these years, my
plea is pray for me that I may finish my
course with joy. I know the longest end of
my pilgrimage is behind me. I’ve tried to be
a quality pastor. I’ve served to please
nobody. I tried to be a trusted friend and an
excellent proclaimer of the Word.
Pray for me as I journey into the sunset
years of this ministry. Pray for me that I
keep preaching and serving until my day is
done. I’m looking forward to something
because I have already worked for it. I’m
looking for a “Well done, my good and
faithful servant!”
I say today, on this thirteenth day of
January 2013, grace unto you all the saints in
Fairview Missionary Baptist Church.
Love and peace be unto you from your
Pastor!

SUNDAY, JANUARY 13, 2013, DENOTES THE
OFFICIAL BEGINNING OF THE 50TH PASTORAL
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION FOR FAIRVIEW
PASTOR JOHN A. REED, JR. and his family. The
Church Family will recognize Dr. Reed's first
Sunday as Pastor during morning worship.
Rev. Reed, along with his wife Patricia, was
presented to the Fairview Baptist Church Family
50 years ago on January 13, 1963 by the late Pastor
S. S. Fairly. Dr. Fairly had selected Rev. Reed to
serve as his assistant. The young Reed continued
to serve in the pastoral role at the church, faithfully
supporting and later caring for Dr. Fairly until his
death in 1975; after which the church installed him
as Pastor, where he has remained as a caring
shepherd for 50 years.
To mark the 50-year anniversary of his arrival
at Fairview, Dr. Reed will be preaching a
celebratory sermon. The message will be based on
the Anniversary Theme, “50 Years of Service and
Stewardship in the Pastoral Ministry,” I
Corinthians 4:1-2. Pastor Reed announced that he
preached the first Sunday morning that he arrived
at Fairview so he felt it fitting that he preach
himself on the 50th anniversary of his arrival.
The Black History & Social Action Ministries
planned a special program for the 10:00 a.m.

The Fairviewan—Celebrating 20 Years! 4 First Quarter: January—March 2013
What a time! What a Time! What a Time! I make reference to the
Annual Prayer Bowl which was held on its traditional date of New
Year’s Eve.
Let me say that I was blessed once more to have been able to attend and
was in attendance from the Opening Prayer given by yours truly to the
Benediction which was given at roughly 12:30 AM on New Years Day
morning.
Let’s cut to the chase and just say that the entire evening was
AWESOME. From all the heaven sent messages given by the six
visiting Pastors and the heavenly music given by all the musical
aggregations from their churches who accompanied them, The Lord was
in his Holy Temple that evening. The earth just had to be silent, as
praised him.
Occupying his traditional position and opening the proceedings was
Kelly Booker, the proud Pastor of the Union Baptist church. Pastor
Booker took his message from the text of Luke 24:13-17, 25-31. The
message was titled, What’s Your Communication?
Rev. Lee Cooper moved into the second spot at 7 PM and preached a
powerful message on, Can You See It?, using Luke 17:11-19 as the text.
Rev. Cooper pastors the Prospect Baptist Church, and is a long time
participant in this annual event.
A new comer moved into the spot that Pastor Cooper had occupied for
many years and that new comer anchored the first half of the event for
the evening. I absolutely love Pastor Michael McDaniel, not only for
his powerful preaching, but for the technique he uses in getting his
messages across. Shall we say “SHORT AND SWEET”, which suits
me. Rev McDaniel is the proud Pastor of the Northeast Missionary
(Continued on page 5)
In 2013, the Church Theme is The Disciplines of Discipleship. There are many disciplines that we as disciples (learners, followers, imitators) should practice regularly. 2013 began with the discipline of PRAYER. Since everything happens after Prayer, the Fairview family kicked off the new year with the following: Prayer Bowl on New Year’s Eve, Prayer Seminar on Saturday,
January 5, and the Super Prayer Meeting on
Wednesday, January 9. See detailed articles on each of these events in this Newsletter. The Prayer Ministry of Fairview is made up of 12 Prayer Groups. Each Fairview member was asked to sign up with one of these 12 groups. The Ministry will then have the ability to mobilize the entire church family for corporate prayer throughout the year as needed. Baptist Church. His message was entitled, God’s Maneuvers, and
the source of that message was Exodus 1:8-12.
Initiating the second half of the program for the evening was the
Inimitable, Indomitable, Much Loved, and Highly Respected Rev.
Dr. Major Lewis Jemison, Pastor of the St. John Missionary Baptist
Church. Pastor Jemison was in top form as he spoke on, Going
The Distance, excerpting his message from Philippians 3:12-14.
Pastor Jemison is a Powerful Pro-claimer of God’s word and that
was evident during his homily.
The Church was not new in the fifth hour, but the Messenger was.
Rev. Ray Douglas, Pastor of the Greater Mt. Olive Missionary
Baptist Church, made Pastor Reed a PROUD PAPA, as he
delivered a powerful message on, A Survivors Story, using Psalms
34:1-4 as his source. Pastor Douglas took up where the late A.
Glen Woodberry left off and did not miss a beat. Pastor Douglas
was in top form and he had the house on fire.
Last but not least, another Son of Fairview and Son in the Ministry
of Pastor Reed, anchored the second half of the program. From the
Bethel Baptist Church, Rev. Teron Gaddis took us on higher as he
lifted the roof with a powerful and scintillating message just to say,
Lord Thank You. The message was lifted out of Luke 17:11-19,
and it was appropriate, for as midnight struck hailing the onset of a
new year, Pastor Gaddis was praising God for allowing all of us
assembled to be able to see the new year. It was his Grace and his
Mercy that brought us safely through the outgoing year, and Rev.
Gaddis reminded each of us of the same.
I have given you the message titles, and the source of each
message. If you hunger for more, contact the Fairview Media
Ministry and you can get the complete thrust and gist of each
powerful message that was given, plus enjoy some very powerful
music rendered by each of the musical groups.
Assistant Pastor Derrick Walter Sr., Ministerial Assistants Arthur
Crawford, and Cleo J. McGlory, kept the proceedings moving
along in an expeditious manner throughout the long evening. Food
was provided to all who attended by Sister Willa Nero and her staff
of able assistants.
The crowds were large and enthusiastic throughout the entire
evening and those in attendance were indeed blessed by what their
ears heard and what their eyes saw.
This Prayer Bowl was so uplifting and inspiring that I can still hear
the messages ringing in my psyche. Now we await the 2013 Prayer
Bowl and our prayer is that God will allow us to be among the
living when that time comes.
C. Meldon Hardrick, Staff Reporter
32nd Annual Prayer Bowl (Continued from page 4)
On January 9, 2013, at the SUPER
PRAYER MMEETING, there was a unity
of churches and a blessing for all
who attended.
Fairview Baptist Church and
Greater New Zion Baptist Church
choirs sang selections that put
praises on your tongue and
prepared each heart and mind for
worship. Dr. James Tucker brought
the message from Mark 15:32-33
entitled "The Temptation of Coming
Down."
No matter your age, gender, or
position in life this message had
something that resonated with each
person in attendance. He spoke of
the mind set of Jesus on the cross
and how that translates to any
person trying to do better, be
committed to Christ, and leaders
of the gospel that are often
persuaded to leave the pulpit for
an easier path in life. He took a
journey from the cross to
salvation and explained how
important it is to stay the
course. History was dependent on
Jesus staying on the cross and
someone's life could be dependent
on your course through life and
praying through it.
This message inspired everyone
who heard it to define their
personal cross in their own lives
and to take it to Jesus to
overcome their burdens. It was a
true blessed event.

Rev. Tony Rhone, Galilee Baptist Church—Shawnee, OK,
was the keynote speaker for the 2013 Prayer Seminar at
Fairview on Saturday, January 5. His message was THE
DISCIPLINE OF PRAYER IN DISCIPLESHIP, Matthew
16: 24—27.
A disciple is a messenger, follower, learner of the Lord Jesus
Christ, putting into practice those things we have been taught
by Jesus. (Luke 11: 1-13).
Rev. Tony is a great teacher and he taught us much about the
value of prayer for our spiritual growth. We MUST be disciplined in prayer in order to grow.
He instructed us to make a commitment to prayer for 2013 by praying more, and not under our
own strength, but with God’s help. In light of the time of year, many across the nation create a
litany of resolutions. It is easy to take on too much and to work out of sheer determination, but
Rev. Tony cautioned us to avoid the trap of depending on our strength and not to sabotage our
efforts by overloading our plates.
The disciples witnessed Jesus’ practice of praying. He is our Supreme example and if He
practiced praying, it goes without saying that we should do the same. There will be good
results. The three major points Rev. Rhone emphasized regarding prayer are:
We will grow when prayer is practiced,
Pray with the right perspective,
Pray with persistence.
Rev Tony asked the question, “If someone heard you pray, would that be able to tell that you
are a follower of Jesus?” He suggests that as we grow our prayers should not be so much about
us, here and now and worldly things. Our prayers should be more about putting ourselves in a
position for God to get HIS WILL. Our perspective should be based on what God wants for us,
growing in allegiance and dependence on Him.
When life deals a low blow and you’re in a valley, don’t give up and forsake prayer. When
you’re on top of the world an nothing could be better, don’t give up and forsake prayer. Life
may change, but the same God is there throughout eternity. Trust that God will provide for you
what is best for YOU. God has given us promises, so trust that He will meet our needs (John
15:7).
At the conclusion of the Seminar, Sis Shree Walter read the poem to the right on this page
while those in the seminar wrote down their prayer requests to hang of the Cross. Prayer
warriors designated for the Seasons of Prayer for this service came forward to close out the
seminar in prayer for Ministries, Church staff/Pastor/Wife, Youth, the Lost, Families, Unity
and Finances.
HANG IT ON THE CROSS
If you have a secret
sorrow, A burden or a loss,
An aching need for
healing..
HANG IT ON THE CROSS
If worry steals your sleep
And makes you toss
and turn,
If your heart is feeling
heavy
HANG IT ON THE CROSS
Every obstacle to faith,
Or doubt you come across,
Every prayer unanswered
HANG IT ON THE CROSS
For Christ has born our
brokenness
And dearly paid the cost
To turn our trials
to triumphs
HANG IT ON THE CROSS

On today's
menu we are
serving up bacon, sausage,
scrambled eggs, white rice with
brown gravy with a nice hot church-
made biscuit, your choice of fresh
brewed coffee, grape juice and
apple juice. Doesn't that sound good
right about now? Well last Sunday,
January 6, The First Family served
the church that menu and boy was
it good!
Not only was the food good, but the
fellowship was wonderful! I had a
wonderful time being able to
fellowship with my fellow church
members. Not only that, but what a
great way to begin the new year, in
the presence of the Lord while
sharing food, fun and fellowship one
to another.

Sunday, December 2,
we celebrated our 103rd
Church Anniversary and
Homecoming. Pastor Jeff
Mitchell and the Tabitha
Church Family shared
with us in this grand cele-
bration.
The Tabitha Music Ministry blessed us
with songs. Rev. Mitchell preached about,
"The True Church." The scripture came
from Matthew 16: 16-18.
Rev. Mitchell said, "The Church is the
called-out ones. Many Christians want to be
a part of the assembly, but not a part of the
called-out ones." Rev. Mitchell also reminded
us that the Church is here to stay. His 3
points were:
The Church is indestructible.
The Church is intolerable.
The Church is invincible.
Immediately following worship service all
our guests were invited to our Fellowship
Dinner. We truly thank God for another year
as we strive to "Be the Church Today." Submitted by Paula McGlory
EVANGELISM
EXPLOSION Our 2012 Evangelism Explosion
was held from November 28-30 Nov night-
ly with Dr. Clarence Morton delivering the
Word of God. On the first night, Dr. Mor-
ton’s message came from Acts 1:1-8 with
the main focus on verse 8. Here, he shows
us that once we know for ourselves that
Jesus died for us so that we may live, we have to be “all in” and “sold
out for the cause” in order to be true witnesses of Him. Once we have
the desire to hear the Word of God and repent of our sins, we shall
receive the power of the Holy Spirit as it comes over us. And with
this power, Dr. Morton tells us that we are to begin witnessing in Je-
rusalem, which is home with family and friends, then to Judea and
Samaria.
The next night, Dr. Morton spoke from the Old Testament in Isai-
ah 43:8-11. As Christians, Dr. Morton informs us that our purpose is
to evangelize to all unsaved. “It does not matter what lifestyle they
live or what sin they’ve done or where they’ve been. We want them
to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ so they shall be saved.” Because
there are so many other religions out there, we must study the Word
of God so that we can defend the Word of God when we evangelize.
We should not be afraid of them. We must be equipped with the Holy
Spirit and knowledge of the Word of God so that we are ready to an-
swer. “You have to know what you believe and be rooted in the
Word of God” so that we can defend our faith.
Dr. Morton’s message on the last night came from Luke 18:9-11.
This scripture deals with the parable of the Pharisee and the tax col-
lector. The Pharisee prayed thanking God that he was not like other
men, whereas the tax collector prayed asking God for mercy for being
a sinner. When we take pride in our righteousness, often times we
tend to sneer our noses at those whom we believe are beneath us. But
the Bible says in James 4:6, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace
to the humble.” "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled,
and he who humbles himself will be exalted" (v. 14). In the end, we
are all saved by God’s grace and mercy and our faith in Him, not by
our deeds. Val Wingate, Staff Reporter

FAIRVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH DRAMA MINISTRY PRESENTS
WHY DO WE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS?
On December 23, 2012 the Drama Ministry presented a production on why we cele-
brate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The congregation began by singing, “The First Noel”. Then the scripture Matthew 2:11 was read by Patti
Brown, describing the birth of Jesus to Mary and Joseph.
The Preschoolers, (Sis. LaRhesa Marsh, Group Leader) preceded to come out ringing bells. Each child
recited an announcement that Jesus Christ is born. Then they all said in unison, Jesus is the reason for the
season”.
Primary Groups 1 and 2, (Vee Randolph and Doris Simmons) came out holding signs spelling, “Jesus is
the Light” and began to speak about how Jesus is a precious gift and that all things come from Him.
Primary Group 3 and Junior Group 4, (Hattie Marsh and Paula McGlory, Group Leaders)
did short poems on What Christmas is all about, Jesus. Students recited scriptures from Isaiah 9:6 and
Galatians 5:22-24 (The Fruit of the Spirit).
Junior Groups 5 and 6, (Patti Brown Jean Fisher, and Phyllis Reece) did a dialogue
proclaiming why Jesus is the promised Messiah
LIFT (co-directed by Jo Reed and Gail Ellison), danced with grace to the musical arrangement of, “O Ho-
ly Night”.
Intermediate Group, (Sis. Jo Reed, Group Leader) recounted to us through short speeches, “What does
Christmas mean to me”.
Seniors, (Sis. Evalia Darling, Group Leader). Sis. Evalia came out as an Angel. Then she and 2 other
members of the Darling family narrated the birth of Jesus from Luke 2:7-16. The Seniors then expressed
to us that Jesus is, “Love, Peace, and Joy”.
The program was closed out with a powerful rendition from Sis. Debra Davis of Glory, Glory, Glory, to
the new Born Child!
Closing remarks and benediction were made by Hattie Marsh, Drama Ministry Director.
Additional remarks were given by Vee Randolph and Sunday School Director Bro. Ron Coffey. Asst.
Pastor Derrick Walker, Sr. made the final remarks.
Thanks to Sis. Nella Coffey and the festive music she played throughout the program.
Thanks to all who participated and made this production possible!

Our theme for the year is SEEK
GOD. Scripture text: Psalms 70:4 Jere-
miah 29:7
Our Prayer Emphasis for the month of
January is: Seeking God on behalf of Pas-
tors. Scripture text: I Peter 5:2,7. The
New Living Translation reads thusly.
Care for the flock of God entrusted to
you. Watch over it willingly, not grudg-
ingly-not for what you will get out of it,
but because you are eager to serve God.
Give all your worries and cares to God,
for he cares about what happens to you
Three things must be answered here;
What is a Pastor, Who calls him and How
should the pastor perform the duties of
being responsible for the souls of the
flock?
Simply put, a Pastor is a Minister who
cares for a flock forming God’s Church.
What Sets a Pastor apart from a regular
Minster is that the Pastor is responsible
for the well being of the souls of the flock
that he is set over. It goes without saying,
that all Pastors are Ministers, but not all
Ministers are Pastors.
Who calls the Pastor? We look at the
scripture text and the answer is clear.
GOD CALLS THE PASTOR and en-
trusts the well being of the flock to the
Pastor and the Pastor alone. Not the As-
sistant to the Pastor, not the Minister of
Evangelism, not the Youth Minister, and
not to any other minister other than the
one he has called to serve as PASTOR.
How should the Pastor perform the duties
of caring for the flock? Again the an-
swer is provided in the text. The Pastor is
to care for and watch over the flock will-
ingly. Not grudgingly-not for what the
Pastor will get out of it, but because he
(the Pastor) is eager to serve and be obe-
dient to God’s command. The Pastor
should not assume a holier than thou atti-
tude toward the flock, but he should lead
them through good examples of service as
Jesus led the Apostles. The Pastor
should give all of his worries and cares to
God, for God cares about what happens to
the Pastor.
Before closing, let me inform you of our
duties as members of the flock when the
Pastor/Shepherd falls. And he will fall,
for Psalms 37:24 says, Though he fall
(the Shepherd)
he shall not be utterly cast down: for the
Lord upholdeth him with his hand. I
Chronicles 16:22 says, (New Living
Translation) Do not touch these people
(My Anointed), I have chosen and do not
hurt my prophets.
The bible tells us to pray for our Pastors
daily, that they will know the will of God
for them.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians
6:18-19 (New Living Translation), Pray
at all times and on every occasion in the
power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and
be persistent in your prayers, for all
Christians everywhere. And pray for me
too. Ask God to give me the right words
as I boldly explain God’s secret plan that
the Good News is for all who desire to be
the beneficiary of his holy word.
Let us pray. Our Father in Heaven, Hal-
lowed would be thy holy and righteous
name. I pray in the name of Jesus that
you would forever bless the one that you
have anointed and set over us as the
Shepherd of the flock who is responsible
for the well being of our souls. Bless
Pastor John A. Reed Jr., from the crown
of his head to the souls of his feet. And
Lord when he falls, help me to pray that
you will lift him and upholdeth him with
your hand. In the blessed name of Jesus,
we do pray and ask it all. AMEN

JOY TO THE WORLD
The Annual Angel Tree Christmas Party was held in the fellowship hall at Fairview on December 15.
The room was filled with tons of gifts, plenty of smiles and anxious little gift-opening-fingers to go
around. The Fairview Family was on hand to extend their well wishes to the families.
The Fairviewan—Celebrating 20 Years! 18 First Quarter: January—March 2013
We greet you once more in the Eternal
name of our Lord and Savior
Jesus the Christ. It’s our
prayer that each of you experienced a happy
Holiday Season and now you are ready to
march into the new year looking forward to
what God has in store for you.
We would remind you to continue to pray
for our brethren who are sick and afflicted.
Please pray mightily for those that we know
of and some we may not be aware of. We
not only need to pray for those who are sick
and afflicted, but pray also for those
Brethren who have backslidden and fallen
by the way side.
Let’s pray for our beloved President. He
needs our prayers for his physical protection,
along with God’s anointed blessings upon
him, as he tries to lead the nation and do
those things which are pleasing in the sight
of God and mankind. Also remember to
pray for our Pastor Beloved, Pastor Reed.
We are so blessed to have him as our leader,
and let’s pray that God will strengthen him
where he is weak, build him up where he is
torn down, and prop him up on every
leaning side. Ask God to bless him
spiritually, physically, and financially.
Let’s pray that God will allow us to serve
more effectively in His kingdom during
2013 than we did in 2012.
Our meetings times are the 2nd
Wednesdays of each month at 6 PM.
Please support us as we try to serve him and
do those things that he commands us to do.
We ask that you would please pray for our
Executive Committee of Men as they try to
mold the lives of the young men and allow
them to become what the Lord would have
them to become. They are doing yeoman
work and can do even more with our
prayerful support.
The Singing Churchmen continues to serve
with gladness and sends an RSVP to any and
all of you that can make a joyful noise unto
the Lord, to join with us. We have a place
for you. The rehearsal dates and times are
the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at
7:30 PM. Bro. Ahmad Kennedy continues
to provide committed and dedicated
leadership to the best Men’s Chorus this side
of heaven as Pastor would say.
Let me declare once more what a privilege it
is to serve as Director of the Men. I shall
give my best and shall serve as long as
Pastor would have me serve, and as long as
God gives me the strength to do so. After
all, God put me here to serve him as I make
my Christian Journey.
Scripture for the month: Behold,
God is my salvation; I will trust,
and not be afraid: for the Lord
JEHOVAH is my strength and
my song; he also is become my
salvation. Isaiah 12:2

Greetings in the glorious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
We are celebrating a historic event at Fairview, one that few churches have experienced. The second Sunday
in January, 2013, marks the 50th year of Pastoral service of Reverend Dr. John A. Reed, Jr. to the Fairview
Baptist Church. To show our appreciation to this God-man and his family, we have set aside the entire month
of March to commemorate The 50th Pastoral Anniversary Celebration for Dr. J. A. Reed, Jr. and Family.
The theme selected is: “50 Years of Faithful Service and Stewardship in the Pastoral Ministry:” This, then, is
how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has
revealed. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. I Corinthians 4:1-2
[NIV]
Dr. Reed has rendered spiritual leadership, not only to Fairview, but to the community, city, state, and across
the nation. He is known as a friend of preachers and a servant to all! His aim in life is to serve God and
mankind. He gives tirelessly of himself, ministering to the needs of others—whether spiritual, physical, or
social. Pastor Reed's song of life is "If I Can Help Somebody As I Pass Along, …then my living shall not be in
vain."
The month-long celebration will include a lineup of worship celebrations, including guest preachers, musical
worship celebrations, a Golden Anniversary Banquet and a 50th Anniversary Souvenir Journal. Because of
your relationship with Dr. Reed and Sister Reed, we want to give you an opportunity to join with us in
celebrating this momentous occasion. We know that you will want to place an AD of Tribute in the 50th
Anniversary Souvenir Journal. Furthermore, you will want to share in this auspicious occasion by attending a
banquet to be held on March 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Magnuson Hotel/Meridian Convention Center, 737 South
Meridian Avenue in Oklahoma City.
You will be able to view updates on all celebratory events as they become available through visiting our
website at www.fairviewokc.com. Two of the events, however, have set deadlines so it is important that you
act now to guarantee space. We have included information on the Souvenir Journal and the Golden
Anniversary Banquet with this mailing. Because of the multiplicity of persons that have been a part of Dr.
Reed’s ministry, we expect a record number of requests for inclusion in the Journal and for banquet tickets so
we recommend that you reserve your space early! Forms and instructions for making your reservations are
included. Questions regarding the souvenir journal should be directed to Maeleatha Patterson, Souvenir Book
Committee Chairperson, at [email protected]. Banquet ticket questions should be directed to
Johnneese Walter, Ticket Chairperson, 405-816-1952.
We are asking for your support. We appreciate your consideration and thank you for partnering with us.
