cell phone charging stations: a tesla battery for home charging
TRANSCRIPT
Tesla is stepping beyond the automotive world to produce a battery for in-home power.

Elon Musk is revolutionizing two industries at once, disrupting traditional automakers with his electric car maker Tesla and shaking up spacecraft with SpaceX.
Musk has set business media abuzz yet again.
Event Check-in SystemsDuring Tesla’s quarterly earnings call, Musk said his car company is progressing with plans to sell a lithium-ion battery for energy storage in homes and businesses. “We have the design done, and it should start going into production in about six months or so,” Musk said. “It’s really great.
Event Check-in SystemsTesla will soon begin production on a battery that can power your home. Musk says that the planning stage is entirely complete, and that the in-home battery’s design will be revealed within the next month or two. The product itself could be available by late summer or early fall.
Event Check-in SystemsThere could be gold mine here for Tesla, Musk, stakeholders and consumers. Most consumers have very few options regarding how they power their homes. At present, the only widely realistic options are traditional power companies, solar panels and expensive, gasoline-powered generators.
Event Check-in SystemsIf Tesla can produce a battery that provides a cheaper alternative to the electric company –and even solar panels – we could be heading into an era in which more and more homes “cut the cord.” For now, that phrase usually applies to getting rid of cable/satellite television. However, cutting ties with the power company may be next.
Event Check-in SystemsThere’s no news yet on a price point, but Tesla’s battery could end up cutting into your electric bill – or cutting it out entirely. There’s nothing better than going green and saving money at the same time.
P.S. A Tesla battery could keep your home charged up. But at a store, event or venue, look for a cell phone charging station.
