About EEC

A Student Activity Unit of English Club

EngineeringEnglish Club

We need english atmosphere here,

in engineering faculty

English is international lnguage of the world today. No wonder, nowadays english teached from the early education level such as kindergarten and elementary. We, colege and university student should be familiar with english and should be able to use english in our daily activity. Therefore, EEC formed.

EEC actually was an student activity that is formed by former engineering student in early year of engineering major itself.

After half-died some years, then it reformed and keep running until now.

The main objective to make english atmosphere in engineering faculty, we bring never ending vision.

It's hand but possible. And by these image we have jargon "Fight for the righ things, Lose for nothing, Fight, Fight Fight Yeah!!!"

How it comesIn 2014 the President of EEC was Fatahudin, Electrical Engineering 2012.

In 2013, it was Muhammad Hasan Hafifi, Electrical Engineering 2010, who stand in that position.

Before that, Yudhistira Muhammad Iqbal, Electrical Engineering 2009 lead EEC to significant improvements.

And beforew mas yudhis, Mr. Heri lead us.

They all, by the fate, was from electrical engineering and is the peoples from and pasionate with debate class after all.

Today's structuresThe fact that all of engineering faculty students need to learn english force some of the to learn more about english. they are us, Enineering english club.

We currently have 5 Departement: Presidency, Media and Public Relation (MPRD), Telent Development (TDD), Human Resources (HRD) , and Education(EDD).

Each departement lead by a minister, an the presidency lead by president. With Fatahudin as the President, we have Fajar Suryo Tri N as the MPRDs Minister. Enggar Shafira as TDDs Minister. Lilik Suyanti as HRDs Minister. and Hafifah Handayani as EDDs Minister.

They are working hard to keep EEC

working well and productie. with each departements working together, we make some english learning activity.

The ActivityWe learn english with some media, but mainly, it's debate.

Debate Class is the main rule of our activity. Beside that, we have other class like Speech Class, Talkshow, Mags And Wall Mags, English Holiday, and many more.

We try our best to make fun activity but not lose our objective to make english atmosphere in engineering faculty.

And we are keep Fight for the right things, Lose for Nothing, Fight, Fight, Fight, Yeah!!

“Hey, wasn’t it called betraying??" The memory of last day chat echoed in my head, "What?!?" my reaction was freezed for a moment, a sudden disgust flowed to my vein. However, it wasn’t for the person who said the words. It was for me. I’ve never hated myself that much before. 'Something’s not in the place. Something’s wrong.' the word i murmured in silence was just a camouflage for my defence stance against the accusing words. "It would hardly come again, the chance for you to say that you are sorry. So do it right away" arga reasured me, he's best at accusing yet giving a resolution afterward. That virtual friend of mine was just too good for me. Sighing, I sneered at the monitor. ‘He lives exactly 50 meters away from my home, i told arga that the guy was my childhood friend, didn’t I?!?! Then what should this 'hardly come again' be about?' Nonchalantly, trying to appreciate his suggestion yet pointing things the way they should are a difficult task. So.. "I’ll think about it" short like always, wow, i thought i would leave arga speechless that I start gigling in satisfaction. But I have no choice but to admit he's just too good. "You won’t!! Though you’d have another chance, you wont be able to get it free from ur parents influence since u were living houses apart n ur parents were best buddies!!" 'Ah, so he remembered, i was wrong' I nod in disapointment. Luckily, Arga would not notice. But he successfully made me realize my lacking in the matter. 'Then, am I really a betrayer? Wasn’t it too rude' I start made a noise in my own disgusting world. As if to deliberately relieve myself from being the bad guy. 2 or 5 minutes had passed and not even a single word managed to come out from my heartless mouth. Then a day had passed and still I had not yet replied arga last message. But this isn’t about it. I had been thinking over n over what arga had said. I’m fine with the sorry part, but to say it all of sudden to a long lost old friend i can't even imagine. i and deni have been so awkward to each other for the last 9 years. Though he lived so

close, he and I were just two different introverts. So it wasn’t just me who stopped trying to talk. Deni did the same, since he never tried. But the other introvert who live so far came and told me to suddenly reconcile, since deni would join a national event in my campus. A debate championship held by neighborhood major. So how? It’s true that I’ve been wanting to talk to him again without any awkwardness since I have just healed my androphobia this year. But do I have to say sorry out of the blue? Now after 9 years being a total stranger? I reflect my thought to Arga who's actually been ignored for days. He was badly angry though, but then in heroic way suddenly told me 'it's okay'. I like that part of arga, he is always there when I struck my mind on the wall. So after thinking thoroughly, I finally reached my descision. Once for all time would be better than nothing at all. Right. The debate competition is 3 days away. The wind is stroking away the nice smell of wet soil in the morning. The feeling which I often got when rainy season came, was mesmerizing and calming. That's why I love rain and it’s also a good start for a competition. The windy air reminding me of the glorious moment when I voice what I tought in 7 minutes. When the opponent rebut my point, my eyes would roll wild and declare war instantly 'what?!? That’s

bluffing. U actually don’t know how to respond, right!?' i would cursed and accused like that in silence, then start looking for something to clarify. That was the best sensation. But here Iam standing, nervously watching the constestant as they move along in the hallway. This time I'm acting as an adjudicator. An adju do not have to prepare matters, and do only sit neatly pointing mistakes. There’s no way I would be nervous over that. Then again, I should not be this nervous without reason, right? Ah.. gotcha!! There deni sit around the corner chatting with his teammates. He must be the one spreading the panicky virus. 'Hold on heroin' I tried to calm my self, I searched for a chance but was stopped by the view. The view struck my heart, reminding me of the time when we were kid. We went to the same elementary school, then at night I would come to his home asking for homework. When I had not come, he would be the one who come and ask. Cute right? Haha. He is also the first one who teach me how to swim. We were so close like a siblings. Yah, even our classmate back then, would ask whether we are a true sibling. Our parents were best buddies too. Everything was fine till suddenly my father decided to take us to a far away country because of his job. A kid in the age of not yet understood what a

culture is, left her friends and faced a whole new culture. And the first thing she did was crying and fell sick. She was so sad that she tried to write a letter to her classmate, only to get no replies. Whether the letter lost or they didnt even bother to reply, it left unknown to her. 3 years passed, and she finally adapted well with her new friend, her father take her back to her hometown. Much to her dismay, everyone had totally changed. She felt like there were no the same room again for her, that she has to start again from scratches. The familiar sadness and loneliness from 3 years earlier struck her hard again. All in all, She didn't even feel welcomed though she was home. Time by time passing, she gradually stopped trying to mingle and just sit there in silence. That's a story of me becoming an introvert and suffered androphobia. If it's not because of Arga, I don’t think I could stand my stances. I told arga everything about that childhood friend of mine. Though I was not cool about the betraying parts but, I know that not talking and becoming stranger to an old friend were wrong. So I tried to gather some courage, but it’s still hard and I’m trembling over the pressure. ‘Maybe my phobia hasn’t fully healed’ some thought rejoice in my mind. Oh no, no no no. I’m done with this shit, man. So I decided to text Arga to look for some guidance, or perhaps some support. “I’m on my way to a war. Wanna say some last words?” Arga is so considerate, it took only 3 seconds after I click send. “Good Luck”. Huh, if it’s the odd days, I would reply it immediately to complaint. But, I don’t feel like replying at all. I want to finish this as quickly as possible, then run to Arga and kick his face. Thanks to Arga, I’m laughing hard now that I have just found a way to pull a prank on him. That thought alone has lighten my mood and even lifted my nervousness, I can move on now. I move my legs to my destination where Deni and his teammates giggling over their dresscode. I set my voice calmly and call out his name, trying to be natural. Luckily, he respond and turn his head over me, though I can catch his raising one eyebrows.

Page 10: Cent Magz EP.1

“Can we talk?” I smiled and waved my thumb over my shoulder, pointing a meeting point. He nods and walk following my gaze. His friends were teasing us. But, he coolly smiled and pass by. I regreted calling him out when he is with his friend. Oh no, I should not do this. 'What the hell is this? Why have I been feeling sorry for something I had not yet started?!?' Deni slowly walk closer, when I just think about giving up. My hands can't stop trembling and sweating. "I heard you'd compete". 'Fool! Fool! Search some question Ai!' I tried hard to hid my panicky. It was a tough task though. "Well yeah, so what did u want to talk?" Huh?!?! He is so direct! Didn't he see I was pained inside?!?! 'Hang on there Ai, hang on. You will be an adju, you can return his sharp words by staring him sharply too!'. But, since he had asked it, there's no way I could escape. "Sorry" "...." "It's too late but, I wanna say sorry. I've been avoiding you for years" "Why?" Why?!? He asked why?!? I couldnt understand. "I dont know, may be it was embarassing. I was just a kid that only know how to scream and run away. The letter.." "...." "I heard you were told to read it loudly in front of the class" "That's because u addressed it to school instead of my home" "Huh? Oh yeah, I thought I want you to share it too with april and fina, I dont know that it would turn out like that. So sorry" "You can still ask me to share it to them, even if it was sent to my home" What is this? Why I felt like being investigated. Hello there! I WAS JUST A KID, YOU KNOW?!?! i had to manage my rage from coming out. It seems like he tried to train his debate skill with me. Okay! Watch and learn from your senior kid. "To be honest I have forgotten why, i was just a kid back then" "It was so embarassing, did u remember what you write on the letter?!" "Not at all, were you that embarassed to

still hold grudges all these years?" "What?! You were the one who was avoiding me!" "I know, it was so embarassing for me too. That was why I run away and stop talking to you. Now that my phobia healed and that we could meet without our parent's influence, sorry" I let it all out. I dont know why I'm relieved over the fact that deni did not forget or pretend like nothing happened at all. May be it would hurt me so much if he say 'it's fine', then the following years would have just gone like these 9 years. Back as stranger. "Ah, so you want to reconcile once for all time, don't you?" "Yeah, hopefully you'd understand" "Okay, but on conditions" what?! Did he hurt his head as well? "Yeah, try me" "Forgive me too.." "...." speechless, this is.. "I didn't know how and what to reply your letter, so I left it abandoned. Look, I'm the first one who abandoned you." I'm suprised and speechless again. "But I can't accept over the fact that you were back but then avoiding me. I thought you were angry, but the day you popped up in front of my house doing your mother's errand. I realized you were just a stranger" "I know, I was a childhood friend who turn you into a stranger. So let's be friend again!!" I cheered as I want this end as soon as quickly. Deni smiled, he smiled like a kid who just won a cup. I'm too relieved seeing his smile again, that I can shed a tears. My childhood friend is back. "Good job" he pat my head. Annoyed, I glare asking for freedom. Look satisfied, He pocketed back his hand. "Anyway, you were the only one who kept coming asking for homework, i never did once" "Huh?!?" I tried hard to recall my memory. It was all already blur, but I have to clarify this matter. Not yet I found one, he continue. "Now that you're back alive from a war. We shall celebrate it, right? My threat, then" "What.. how.. u were..?!?! @%&@!?!?!"

10 Things To Reach Dreams

Succesful People Do Differently

10 cent mags

main menu

Dreams do not have to be just dreams. They can be reality. There are things each person can do to reach their dreams, and successful people act differently to reach their dreams. Not everyone follows their dreams, but why is that? If you have a dream, go for it!

Here are 10 things that successful people do differently to reach their dreams.

1. They don’t make excuses. When most people think about their dreams, they might come up with excuses for why their dreams are not possible. Successful people who reach their dreams don’t make as many excuses. Instead, they are proactive and try to overcome any and all obstacles. Those who are not successful with reaching their dreams most likely create many excuses for why their dreams are not possible for them.

2. They work hard.Successful people work hard to reach their dreams. They do what it takes to reach their dream, even if it takes a long while and all of their time. Working hard is important when it comes to reaching your dream. You might have to work two jobs at one time. You might even have to work three jobs. You might have to attend school at the same time, raise a family, take care of a loved one, and so on.

3.They stay healthy.Successful people make sure that they stay healthy. If you get sick, that will just make it take a little longer for you to reach your dreams, so staying healthy in important.

4. They hold to their principles.Holding on to your own principles is important when you are trying to reach your dreams. You have to know who you are and why you are doing

Page 13: Cent Magz EP.1

11cent mags

certain things. You can’t just forget who you are.

5. They never quit. Successful people never quit. Even when times get tough, they try to not stop what they are doing. They try to think of their end goal and what they can do to get there. If you quit, then reaching your dream will be nearly impossible.

6. They are willing to take risks. Those who reach their dreams are willing to take risks. Many dreams require risks to be taken. You don’t know what may happen if you take the risk, but sometimes it comes down to taking the risk and reaching your dream, or not taking the risk and possibly never reaching your dream. You will never know unless you take some risks in order to reach your dream.

7. They set realistic goals. Setting goals is important for reaching your dreams. Successful people set goals and reach them one by one. Setting smaller goals can also

help you reach your dreams because you know exactly what you have to accomplish to finally reach your dream.

8. They are positive. Successful people who reach their dreams are positive. They do not think negatively most of the time and instead think about how their dreams are actually possible. If you are negative, it can be much harder to reach your dream since you do not have faith in yourself. Instead, think positively about what you can do to reach your dream.

9. They know how to multitask. Most dreams are made by someone multitasking. You may have to do many things at once in order to reach your dream. You don’t let how busy your life is stop you.

10. They make sacrifices. Successful people make sacrifices in order to reach their dream. You might have to work for low pay in order to reach your dream; however, if you have faith in yourself and set realistic goals, then your sacrifices may pay off.

Latest EEC Activity

EEC English HolidaySome time ago, EEC was take some rest in a holiday event. It's English holiday.

English holiday this year a bit different with last year's english holiday. last year's holiday was concepted to be a camp which using english as main language in several days. last year, it takes about a week in an english course in Cilacap.

This year, we just having fun in a resort near our campus. Still in Purbalingga. It's less than a hour to go to the resort. it's Gua Lawa

The reason we going there is because peoples, specially engineering students less know about this natural tour site. And as university students we should lead peoples to know and visit this site

The siteThe site of gua lawa is a set of beautifull natural caves and landscape. It's landscape, trees, and natural environtments make us really relax and enjoy this creature. Thanks to God that give us opportunity to enjoy this moment.

It said, a set of beautifull natural caves, so it is not only one cave. Beside Gua Lawa there is also Gua Lorong Kereta. It's likely named so because the apearance of the cave itself that is unique. It's likely because the shape, it's assumed to be similiar with the coridor of the train.

Yeah, it's a nice trip. one or two words would not enough to show te beautifullness and the sensation of this trip. it's a "You should feel this too" trip at all.

Talkshow"Go Abroad before graduate"

Go to another country is a good way to life better. and it's better to do that before we graduate.

"but it's not as easy as fliping hand" you say maybe.

Therefore, we learn from peoples ever do this kind of thing. They are our formers, oktoberiman a.k.a kokberi from Geological engineering 2010 and dian kurnia utami a.k.a mba ami from Civil engineering 2010.

Kokoberi once get an opportunity to go to japan in summer of 2014 in order to learning. He take about a week there.

Mba Ami go to Romania in winter 2013. She was there for about two month.

Both of them share their experience there.

Mba ami share about how she experiencing new environtment and climates, being victim of pickpocket in

deptartement store, how she can go there, and many more.

Kokoberi share about what he and his friends do in japan, about going t tokyo tower and lost their friend in the train, and so other experience.

Kokoberi and mba ami really show us that to go abroad we dont need to graduate, we can do that before graduate.

In the end of the talkshow, they both said that in their visited country, Indonesia is not known yet, or in other word Indonesia is infamous for other country people.

Maybe go abroad before graduate can make our country more known an more valuable. And we, universiy students should be the front leader to show up.

Kokobery and Mba Ami is two, who's next? It's maybe You.

5Weird Facts About

RainThe least rainy place on earth isn't in the desert

It may be covered with ice, but Antarctica gets only 6.5 inches of rain or snow per year, making it the continent with the lowest annual rainfall by far. On the other end of the spectrum, Lloro, Colombia, absorbs 534 inches of rainfall per year. North America is relatively dry by comparison, collecting 256 inches of rain annually.

Rain doesn't always make the ground wet

In dry, hot places, rain sometimes evaporates before it hits the ground. Environmentalist Edward Abbey describes "phantom rain" this way: "You see curtains of rain dangling in the sky while the living things wither below for want of water. Torture by tantalizing, hope without fulfillment. Then the clouds dissipate into nothingness."

Page 17: Cent Magz EP.1

15cent mags

Not all raindrops are made of water

On Venus, and other moons and planets, rain is made of sulfuric acid or methane. Even stranger: on a planet 5,000 light years away, scientists found raindrops made of iron rather than water.

There's a scientifically proven way to get less wet in the rain

Run! As Henry Reich, the brains behind the YouTube Channel MinutePhysics explains, the faster you get out of the rain, the drier you'll be, regardless of the additional raindrops you run into

The shape and color of clouds can help you predict rain

Generally speaking, if you see a cumulonimbus cloud—a tall, puffy cloud that looks flat at the top— or a nimbostratus cloud, a flat low-level gray cloud—you can be fairly certain that rain is in the 24-hour forecast.

the news

Sony cancels 'The Interview'amid terror hack threatsNEW YORK (AP) — Under the threat of terrorist attacks from hackers and with the nation's largest multiplex chains pulling the film from their screens, Sony Pictures Entertainment took the unprecedented step of canceling the Dec. 25 release of the Seth Rogen comedy "The Interview."

The cancellation announced Wednesday was a startling blow to the Hollywood studio that has been shaken by hacker leaks and intimidations over the last several weeks by an anonymous group calling itself Guardians of Peace.

A U.S. official said Wednesday that federal investigators have now connected the Sony hacking to North Korea and may make an announcement in the near future. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to openly discuss an ongoing criminal case.

Sony said it was cancelling "The Interview" release "in light of the decision by the majority of our exhibitors not to show the film." The studio said it respected and shared in the exhibitors' concerns.

"We are deeply saddened at this brazen effort to suppress the distribution of a movie, and in the process do damage to our company, our employees, and the American public," read the statement. "We stand by our filmmakers and their right to free expression and are extremely disappointed by this outcome."

Seemingly putting to rest any hope of a delayed theatrical release or a video-on-demand release Sony Pictures spokeswoman Jean Guerin later added: "Sony Pictures has no further release plans

for the film."

Earlier Wednesday, Regal Cinemas, AMC Entertainment and Cinemark Theatres — the three top theater chains in North America — announced that they were postponing any showings of "The Interview." The comedy, about a TV host (James Franco) and producer (Rogen) tasked by the CIA to assassinate North Korea's Kim Jong Un (played by Randall Park), has inflamed North Korea for parodying its leader.

Regal said in a statement that it was delaying "The Interview" ''due to wavering support of the film ... by Sony Pictures, as well as the ambiguous nature of any real or perceived security threats." AMC noted "the overall confusion and uncertainty" surrounding the film.

Sony had offered theaters the option of bowing out, and when so many of them did (other chains to drop it included ArcLight Cinemas, Cineplex Entertainment and Carmike Cinemas), Sony was left with little choice.

On Tuesday, the hacking group threatened

tech and movies

Page 19: Cent Magz EP.1

17cent mags

violence at "the very times and places" showing "The Interview." The Department of Homeland Security said Tuesday there was "no credible intelligence to indicate an active plot against movie theaters," but noted it was still analyzing messages from the group. The warning did prompt law enforcement in New York and Los Angeles to address measures to ramp up security.

In Washington, White House spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan said the U.S. government had no involvement in Sony's decision, adding that artists and entertainers have the right to produce and distribute whatever content they want in the U.S.

"We take very seriously any attempt to threaten or limit artists' freedom of speech or of expression," Meehan said.

President Barack Obama commented the hacking Wednesday in an interview with ABC News.

"The cyberattack is very serious," said Obama. "We're investigating and we're taking it seriously. We'll be vigilant. If we see something that we

think is serious and credible then we'll alert the public. But for now, my recommendation would be that people go to the movies."

With a modest budget of about $40 million, "The Interview" was predicted to earn around $30 million in its opening weekend before Tuesday's threats. Sony also stands to lose tens of millions in marketing costs already incurred.

"This attack went to the heart and core of Sony's business — and succeeded," said Avivah Litan, a cybersecurity analyst at research firm Gartner. "We haven't seen any attack like this in the annals of U.S. breach history."

Sony was also under pressure from other studios. Christmas is one of the most important box-office weekends of the year, and the threats could have scared moviegoers away. Releases include Universal's "Unbroken," Paramount's "The Gambler," and Disney's "Into the Woods." Sony's musical "Annie," also expected to be a big earner, debuts Friday.

Doug Stone, president of film industry newsletter Box Office Analyst, had predicted that "The Interview" could have made $75 to $100 million. With Sony taking about 55 percent of domestic revenues, that could mean a $41 to $55 million revenue loss, according to Stone.

Sony's announcement was met with widespread distress across Hollywood and by others watching the unfolding attack on Sony. A former senior national security official in the George W. Bush administration said the company made the wrong decision.

"When you are confronted with a bully the idea is not to cave but to punch him in the nose," Fran Townsend, Bush's homeland security adviser, said Wednesday during a previously scheduled appearance in Washington. "This is a horrible, I think, horrible precedent." _____
