CHILLINGThe hotel rooftop, on the ninth level, is one of the coolest hangouts in Patong. Here, with great view, is a large swimming pool with its own Jacuzzi and sundeck. There are two steam rooms next to the pool, and the Cenfit fitness centre is also located here for you to keep in shape during your stay. Back at ground level, Patong’s famous beach is within easy sauntering distance, even with kids in tow, and the calm waters of the bay are perfect for swimming and water sports. All kinds of shopping are available within easy distance of the hotel, ranging from handicraft stalls to boutiques and large malls, and a night out on the town is a Phuket experience that should not be missed. Boat trips, jungle trekking, elephant riding, go-kart racing, and even bungee jumping, can all be arranged by the hotel, along with all the other activities to be enjoyed on the island.

DININGMix Bistro is open all day, with an early breakfast of essentials starting from 5am and a hearty breakfast buffet beginning at 6.30am. A dinner buffet is served during the evening, with theme nights such as BBQ Night and Steak Night on selected nights. An a la carte with Western, Asian and Thai cuisines is available from mid morning through until the restaurant closes at 11pm, and snacks can be had for takeaway from the deli. Mix Bistro has indoor seating and also an outdoor serving cocktails and other refreshing drinks. On the roof of the hotel, next to the pool, Air Rooftop Bar & Lounge is a favourite meeting and chilling place for everyone. SIGHTSEEING

Patong really is the ideal base from which to explore the bewitching island of Phuket. The coast road will take you south to the beach resorts of Kata and Karon, from where you can follow the road to the southern tip of the island; or you can head north to the open spaces ofMai Khao Beach, the longest beach on the west coast, where there is a nature reserve. Taking the road across the mountains that run down the centre of the island will bring you to Phuket Town, with its classic Sino-Portuguese architecture, many of the mansions and shophouses

having been converted into restaurants, boutiques and galleries. From here, which is the administrative centre of the island, it is only a short distance to Chalong,a charming old harbour from which boats depart for trips to the islands. A popular destination is Phang Nga Bay, with its lowering limestone islands, many of which have been hollowed out by seawater, forming lagoons that can be explored by kayaks launched from the pleasure boats.
