Welcome

We invite you to visit the Central area of the Adirondacks. Here

you can forget your worries watching the sunset from an

Adirondack chair at one of our lakeside resorts or in a remote lean to

backpack camping. You might just row rhythmically in a traditional guide

boat or rediscover your youth on a scenic seaplane, on horseback, or

paddling a canoe through our part of the Adirondacks.

You will encounter the area’s charm at our varied accommodations,

restaurants, and specialty shops, where the always personable owners

are usually working and ready to greet each visitor with a smile. You might

just splash the time away in one of our many Adirondack lakes, or view

those same lakes from the top of a mountain or on a scenic chairlift ride.

Or if snowmobiling is your passion, the Towns of Inlet and Webb trail

system offers hundreds of miles of professionally groomed trails, where

accommodations and eateries are easily accessible. Known as the

“Snowmobile Capital of the East,” the trail system attracts snowmobilers

from all over the country. Many of these snowmobile trails are also open in

the summer to hikers and mountain bikers, allowing visitors an opportunity to

enjoy the beauty of the Adirondacks while testing their skills on unique and

diverse terrain. Thus, hiking, mountain biking, primitive backpacking and in-season big game hunting fill the forest space around us. Numerous flat-water

canoe and kayak routes exist between and around the villages. Sport fishing

for trout, bass and salmon is available in the Fulton Chain of Lakes, as well

as in the many streams and ponds in the area. All types of camping, from

RV to tenting to free primitive camp sites, is available for enthusiasts in

and around both Inlet and Old Forge.

So come visit our beautiful area and may your stay

with us be uplifting, relaxing and enjoyable.

Public fishing is available from state and town land including the boat launches on Fourth and Seventh Lakes, the boardwalk in Arrowhead Park on Fourth Lake, the lakefront at Old Forge Pond, and all of the DEC State Campgrounds. Some of our best fishing is ice fishing in the winter on our majestic frozen lakes. All excursions are led by experienced horsemen. Instructions are given prior to each ride. Helmets are provided and waivers must be signed in order to participate. Your horseback riding adventure will include a 1 hour excursion or for the more adventurous, or a 2 hour ride might be more what you’re looking for. Spend your time entirely on a horse or just relaxing by the pond listening to the sounds of a working ranch under a big old shade tree. It’s group therapy, as some may say, if you want to spoil it by getting scientific. It’s better known around here as a heckuva good time! For riders who have their own horse and wish to trailer here for a weekend of trail rides contact the Inlet Information Office or the Town of Webb Visitor Center for maps and parking locations.

White-tail deer are plentiful and small game are also

popular here. Ducks, turkey, and snowshoe hare are just a sample. Licenses are available in our Town Clerks’ Offices, and at Ace Hard-ware. e invite you to visit the Central area of the Adirondacks. Here you can forget

your worries watching the sunset from an Adirondack chair at one of our lakeside

resorts or in a remote lean to backpack camping. You might just row rhythmically

in a traditional guide boat or rediscover your youth

on a scenic seaplane, on horseback, or paddling a canoe

through our part of the Adirondacks . . .
