The aim is to encourage cooperation across borders that would not

happen without help from the cohesion policy.

52 cross-border cooperation programmes along internal EU borders

ERDF contribution: 5.6 billion EUR

13 transnational cooperation programmes cover larger areas of co-

operation such as the Baltic Sea and central European regions.

ERDF contribution: 1.8 billion EUR

1 interregional cooperation programme (INTERREG IVC) and 3

networking programmes (Urbact II, Interact II and ESPON) covering

all 27 Member States of the EU. They provide a framework for

exchanging experience between regional and local bodies in

different countries. ERDF contribution: 445 million EUR

In autumn 2012 an in-depth analysis of current and future challenges,

needs and potentials that characterise the central Europe area was

For the future programme, direct involvement of partners in

programming the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme 2014-2020 is sought

through:
