HOW TO HELP AFTER HURRICANE HARVEY

Pray for the safety of those affected by the storm, emergency responders and elected officials

Give to Central UMC and mark your check or envelope “Hurricane Relief” - Every dollar given to the United Methodist Committee on Relief goes directly to victims. All administra-tive costs are covered by our apportionment giving.

Build and donate relief kits – health kits and cleaning (flood) buckets will be needed in great quantity. Information is in the church office and on the SC Conference website (umcsc.org) to build these kits or you may donate to Central UMC and mark your check or envelope “Relief Kits.”

Volunteer in Texas - teams to work in the area will be formed in the future – speak to

Rev. Surrett if you would like to go at the appropriate time. At some point, he anticipates

going to work for a week probably later in the fall.

Never to early to get started…... OKTOBERFEST …….…..October 7, 2017

Central UMC will, once again, be part of the Oktoberfest celebration in downtown Newberry on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10am-6pm. We are looking forward to the opportunity to share our ministries and outreach programs with the community. We are looking for volunteers to help pass out information and talk to visitors about our church, and we are also hoping that our women’s groups and men’s group can provide items to sell to raise money for each groups different outreach projects and ministries. If you have any questions or would like to help, please contact Jennie DuBose at 276-2901.

DON’T FORGET EPWORTH CHILDREN’S HOME WORK DAY OFFERING NEXT SUNDAY!. Next week is the annual Work Day offering. This tradition dates back decades when Methodists were challenged to give a day’s pay to the children at Epworth. While the emphasis has shifted a bit over the years, it is still important that we come together to provide spiritual, educational, emotional and physical support for the children at Epworth. As you consider what God is calling you to give to support our church’s ministry to children, re-member Christ’s command to let the little children come to him. He embraces them, welcomes them, loves them and teaches them. Epworth is answering the call to let the little children come. Your generous contribution to our church’s ministry enables transformation to happen for the children who call Epworth home. For more information, please visit Epworth on the web at www.epworthchildrenshome.org.
