CERMETS
Cermet is a Metal Matrix Composite which means it is a combination of a metal and a
ceramic or any organic material. It is formed by combining metal
and ceramic. Also known as ceramals.
I WILL DESCRIBE CERMETS
Cermets gain properties of metals and ceramics. They have a high melting point.
They are very sturdy. They can conduct electricity.
They have high temperature resistance. They have the ability to undergo plastic
deformation. It doesn't corrode easy.
Generally, the metallic elements used for cermets are nickel, molybdenum,
and cobalt.
PLASTIC DEFORMATION??????
Plastic deformation is when a material deforms when a force is applied to it. These
changes are permanent.
This underwent plastic deformation.
WHAT IS IT USED FOR??????
It is being considered to be used for spaceship shielding because it can resist high velocity
attacks from micrometeoroids and space debris.
It is used for machines that undergo high temperature because it conducts electricity and
resists heat. It is used for things that cut stuff like saws and
other stuff because it doesn't corrode easy.
