OVERVIEWThe nationally accredited Certificate III in Barbering is designed for aspiring barbers who want to learn the art of fading,carving and cutting hair in the thriving men's grooming industry. You'll practice your skills on real clients in our fullyequipped barbershops and real salons.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

TAFE NSW offers the Certificate III in Barbering as an apprenticeship. There may also be options available for you tostudy as a non-apprentice.

ApprenticeshipTo be eligible for this course, you must:

Be employed as an apprentice in the barbering industry as evidenced by a letter of support from your employer■

Submit your training plan proposal (TPP) with your application■

Non-apprenticeshipThere may be options available for you to study as a non-apprentice. Enquire today and one of our Apprenticeship andTraineeship team will help you understand any eligibility or entry requirements.

WORK PLACEMENT

There is no work placement requirement for this qualification. As an apprentice, you will gain your experience on-the-jobwith your employer.

If you are enrolling as a non-apprentice, you need to be in relevant employment or have access to appropriatesimulated workplace environments in order to meet the course completion requirements.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community andspecific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit foryou, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to provide evidence that you have:

Are 21 years of age or over. Proof of age required.■

Evidence of an ongoing work in the industry. This must be given to the head teacher at the time of interview. This evidence must be a

letter from the barber shop owner stating that on going work is being undertaken by the applicant and will continue throughout their

studies.

Evidence of some previous industry experience or training such as a Certificate II in Salon Services, or an introductory course into

barbering.

All applicants must attend an interview with the Head Teacher Prior to enrolment as there are some conditions toenrolment in this full time non- apprenticeship course.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a full-time on campus course. You must attend approximately 14 hours of class. You may also be required tocomplete approximately 8 hours of additional study. This additional study could include private study, work placementsand research.

First Qualification Fee

Applies to a student who does not already hold a post-school qualification from any tertiary sector (TAFE, privateprovider or University), and includes any vocational (certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas) and higher education(degree) qualifications achieved in Australia or overseas previously.

Subsequent Qualification Fee

Applies to a student who already holds one or more post-school qualifications from any tertiary sector (TAFE, privateprovider or University), and includes any vocational (certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas) and higher education(degree) qualifications achieved in Australia or overseas previously.

Apprenticeship Fee

Eligible apprentices are exempt from fees when undertaking an apprenticeship under the NSW Government's Fee FreeApprenticeship. For apprentices who are not eligible, apprenticeship qualification fees are capped at $2,000.

Information will be available at the information session andfirst day of class and will cost approximately $850.00 from a supplier of your choice.
