Costume designs for Rose

• From the designs we have here, we only chose to take a couple of elements for our main character, this was mainly because of our budget and also because we felt it was not needed that she wore different outfits.• Therefore we chose to take the idea of the simple low heels, and decided to use black strapped flats. • Our actress wore a navy below-knee dress with a simple round neck cut.• She then wore a long fur coat, although fur was not part of the original designs, we felt it made her look wealthy as fur was only something the upper-class people could afford.

Costume design for William• After looking at the designs, we chose to keep to them as best possible so it was more obvious that our actor was of a lower class.• We chose to give him a shirt and waistcoat, the waistcoat was beige and the shirt, just plain white.• the jacket he wore was very similar to the one shown in the left-hand picture, but was light brown with a tweed pattern. This has the feel of a gardener or workman.• He also wore a brown flat-cap, to fit in with his persona.• As well as this he wore some suit trousers that he tucked into his woollen socks.• Instead of brogues we gave him walking boots as we could not find any shoes that properly fitted into the time period.

Costume design for Rose’s Father• We managed to create the correct costume quite successfully for this.• Our actor wore suit trousers and black shoes.• He also wore a white shirt with a waistcoat.• He also had a striped tie.• Over this he had a fitted jacket like the one on the right.• We also felt that because he was going outside he should wear a hat, so we gave him one similar to the picture on the left.
