The Money Factor

• Will you get some money?• 1. Not personally, but the city will and

you will be able to enjoy the resources.

How long will it take to vote?

• 1. 1 minute if you know how you will vote.

• 2. 3 minutes if you have to read everything and decide to vote. It depends on your rate.

• 3. In all it is about 10 minutes out of your life. The bulk of the time is afforded to the drive, not voting.

When is the election?

• LVISD will hold a tax ratification election on October 2, 2010 for the purpose of recovering funds from the State. This election will not increase the school taxes you pay! 

• Voting will be on Monday as well. If you go on Monday, you will not have a long wait time. If not, please go on October 2, 2010.

Benefits

• What are the benefits of a TRE for LVISD? We will gain over $1,800,000 in additional revenue from the State by maximizing our maintenance and operations tax rate without a total increase in the tax rate. Essentially, we are recovering revenue from the State that should stay in our community. This allows us to balance our budget for the 2010-2011 school year.

Fact of the Matter

• Will the overall tax rate increase? Yes, but only by the amount approved by the voters in the 2009 Bond Election.

• *This means that you will not have to pay double taxes. We voted for the 2009 bond and we will see that increase, but this just brings in more funds.

Early Voting

• When and where is early voting? Early voting begins September 15 and ends September 28. Early voting will take place at 3101 Latimer, Building F, Bellmead, Texas from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

I missed early voting

It is not the end of the world if you missed early voting. Please join us on October 2, 2010.

Election day is October 2 and the polling locations are Bellmead Civic Center at 3900 Parrish for SMD1, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at 504 East Loop 340 for SMD2, Bellmead Civic Center at 3900 Parrish for SMD3, Timbercrest Baptist Church at 1625 Crow Drive for SMD4, and Oaklawn Baptist Church at 2105 Behrens Circle

What am I risking?

• As you know, we do not have tax hikes, which can change the following:

• 1. Security• 2. Picking up brush• 3. Patrol• 4. Maintaining schools and the bond

• Trust me on this one, your taxes will not be doubled.

• What Bellmead need?• 1. Your vote-you stand as 1, but

represent a million.• 2. This is your last chance to bring free

money into the city.
