Compact Friction TesterCFTThe Compact Friction Tester provides detailedinformation of the slip characteristics of packagingmaterial.

Surface slip is a key factor when printing, erectingor filling packaging materials on an automatic line.Friction parameters help the manufacturerunderstand how the finish of a blown film orprinted carton can influence the feeding andrunning speed.

In addition to these values the CFT producesdetailed force graphs and statistics of multiple teststhat can be printed to date / time stamped label(optional extra).

MEASUR ING F R I C T I ON

The CFT measures both static and dynamic coefficients offriction.

Static Friction: The initial force required to make twosurfaces slip against each other.

Dynamic Friction: The ongoing force required tomaintain movement between two surfaces.

How is friction measured using the CFT? A sample of63.5mm2 with a weight acting over the entire surfacearea is moved over another sample at a given speed.Static and dynamic COF are automatically calculated anddisplayed on screen.

This is typically a face to face test.

Exact test parameters are specified in ASTM D1894, ISO8295, ISO 15359, ASTM D2534, TAPPI T549.
