Our Lady of Guadalupe- Appeared in Mexico 1531to St. Juan Diego (Aztec)on Tepyac Hill- Mary appeared dressed as an Aztec princess- Mary requested a Church and for Juan to return- Juan went to the Bishop to ask, Bishop asks for a sign- Juan can't meet because his uncle was ill, Mary assured him he would be healed- even though it wasn't the right time of year, Mary told Juan to gather roses as the sign for the Bishop- when showing the roses, all are amazed to see Mary's image on the Tilma

III. Our Lady of Lourdes- Mary first appeared to St. Bernadette, a poor 14 yr-old in SW France near a grotto. - 18 Visions, prayed the Rosary together,- Mary asked for a Church to be built- lady's name: - "I am the Immaculate Conception"

- During her visions,Bernadette would be in a trance-like state, unharmed by candle flame, pin-prick, etc. - she unearthed a spring that has healing powers

Our Lady of Fatima - 1917 - (during WWI)- Portugal- 3 shepherd children- 6 apparitions- -Miracle of the Sun - claimed to have seen the Sun move around in the sky and come close to the ground, drying up the wet grass.- 3 Secrets(Prophecies of future events - 1) this war would end soon, but if people did not turn their hearts to God, a worse one would break out. WWII 2) Mary asked that everyone pray the Rosary for the souls in Purgatory and for the consecration of Russia to God (Cold War) 3) - not released until 2000, theory that it related to the Assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II. When he was shot, he turned briefly to receive an image of Our Lady of Fatima
