We hope that everyone had a wonderful time with family and friends. We have 5 weeks of school remaining in the 2018-19 school year. Our 3rd through 5th graders will be taking the State Competency Tests during the weeks of May 13 and May 20. Please make sure that your 3rd, 4th or 5th grader gets plenty of sleep and a good breakfast during this period of time so that he/she can do her best. Our Walk Through Registration for 2019-20 is August 7th followed by the first day of school on August 13th. The 19/20 instructional calendar is on the district website( Castro Valley Unified School District ). Kindergarten parents - join us for First Grade Orientation at 2:00 p.m. on May 10th. Adults only please. First grade will be performing at Friday Flag on May 17th and Kindergarteners will be performing at Friday Flag on May 24th. . There are many other events and field trips coming up so watch our website calendar( http://chabot.cv.k12.ca.us/ ). We will be holding the Journal Writing Program again this year. We will have journals available in June for those who wish to get a school journal for their writing. They are turned in at Walk Through Registration or the first week of school. I read them all and participants get to enjoy lunch and book party with me, the principal. Get ready for Tigerthon!! Parent Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year is May 3rd. Come and join the fun and help to raise money to pay for the primary science teacher, school supplies, field trips and many other items. We also thank Mazie Fitzgerald for her three years as Parent Club President and the board for their service to Chabot’s students. We hope that you will join us for the many events in May and that you have a super summer. The most important thing you can do for your child’s education is to read with them everyday and encourage them to write a journal during the summer. Finally a huge thank you goes to all of our amazing volunteers who have made so many exciting things possible at Chabot this year. Have a spectacular summer and we’ll see you in August

From the Principal’s office…

Welcome back from Spring Break. We hope that everyone had a wonderful time with family and friends. We have 5 weeks of school remaining in the 2018-19 school year. Our 3rd through 5th graders will be taking the State Competency Tests during the weeks of May 13 and May 20. Please make sure that your 3rd, 4th or 5th grader gets plenty of sleep and a good breakfast during this period of time so that he/she can do her best.

Our Walk Through Registration for 2019-20 is August 7th followed by the first day of school on August 13th. The 19/20 instructional calendar is on the district website(Castro Valley Unified School District).

Kindergarten parents - join us for First Grade Orientation at 2:00 p.m. on May 10th. Adults only please. De la oficina del director…Estimados padres/tutores:

Bienvenidos de vuelta de las vacaciones de primavera. Esperamos que todos hayan tenido un tiempo maravilloso con la familia y los amigos. Tenemos 5 semanas de escuela restantes en el año escolar de 2018-19. Nuestros estudiantes de 3er a 5to grado tomarán los exámenes estatales de competencia durante las semanas del 13 y 20 de mayo. Por favor, asegúrese de que su hijo de 3er, 4to o 5to grado duerma lo suficiente y disfrute de un buen desayuno durante este período de tiempo para que pueda hacerlo lo mejor posible. Nuestro Ensayo de Inscripción para 2019-20 es el 7 de agosto, seguido del primer día de escuela el 13 de agosto. El calendario de instrucción del 19/20 está en el sitio web del distrito (Distrito Escolar Unificado de Castro Valley).

Padres de Jardín de Infancia - acompáñenos para la Orientación de Primer Grado a las 2:00 p.m. el día 10 de mayo. Sólo adultos por favor. El primer grado estará presentando en Friday Flag el 17 de mayo y los estudiantes del Jardín de Infancia estarán presentando en Friday Flag el 24 de mayo. También agradecemos a Mazie Fitzgerald por sus tres años como Presidenta del Club de Padres y a la junta por su servicio a los estudiantes de Chabot. Esperamos que nos acompañen en los varios eventos de mayo y que tengan un súper verano. Lo más importante que pueden hacer para la educación de sus hijos es leer con ellos todos los días y animarlos a escribir un diario durante el verano.

SCHOOL SITE COUNCILWe are looking for parent volunteers for School Site Council. School Site Council meets four times a year to review the school’s plan and review the budget. Please consider joining and having a voice in your child’s education. Please email Mrs. Elkaim if you are interested.

Friendly Reminder from the Attendance office

Please do not forget to report ANY student absence by calling the attendance line at 510-537-2342 Press 1. An absence must be verified within 48 hours, otherwise student will be marked as unexcused. *Vacations are unexcused -Independent Studies can no longer be requested for 18/19- Independent Studies can not be requested for the first 10 days of the new school year.- If you know your child will be absent on the first day of school, 8/13, please let the office know by email ([email protected]). HEALTH OFFICE….The abrupt change of weather brings bloody noses for some of our students. If you know your child is prone to bloody noses, please pack extra clothes in his/her backpack. We can not send a child back to class with any blood on their clothes; even the smallest speck. Thanks for your help with this!

Test Taking Tips★ Go to bed early. Get at least 8-10 hours of sleep.★ No electronics 1 hour before bed. No electronics before

school.★ Eat a healthy well balanced breakfast. Eggs are a great

“brain food”.★ Drink lots water.★ Increasing free play and outdoor play at home gives their

brain a break and is a confidence booster.
