The Department of Cell and Regenerative Biology is committed tounderstanding the fundamental mechanisms by which livingsystems operate at cellular and molecular levels of organization.By embracing a wide range of contemporary and emergingapproaches and experimental systems, the department seeks todefine signaling and regulatory pathways that provide the basis forunderstanding, diagnosis and treatment of human disease. Basicresearch is the centerpiece of the Department and serves as thedriving force behind teaching and training efforts. The overarchingresearch interests of the Department are highly interdisciplinary,emphasizing molecular, cellular and systems approaches todescribe biological processes in molecular terms. To maintain itsexcellence and stature, the department is currently focusing onexisting strengths in four research areas: Cell and MolecularBiology, Developmental Biology, Stem Cell and RegenerativeBiology, and Cardiovascular Biology.
We seek a recognized leader with an outstanding academicbackground, strong research credentials, demonstrated commitmentto education, experience in mentoring junior faculty, and provenleadership and management skills. The chair will provideprofessional and administrative leadership of the highest qualityto this distinguished department in its teaching and research.
The successful candidate will have a compelling vision for thefuture of CRB in a leading academic medical center. Candidatesmust have a Ph.D., M.D., MD/Ph.D. or equivalent degree(s).They should possess substantial background and experience inadministrative leadership, research, and teaching, and a strongacademic background that would qualify for appointment as atenured professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The University of North Texas (UNT), Denton, Texas, invites applicationsfrom outstanding scientists for two academic-year positions at the assistantor associate professor levels in the BioDiscovery Institute (BDI), one of fourrecently established Institutes of Research Excellence. Candidates addressingimportant fundamental and applied questions in the synthesis and developmentof bio-based products for agriculture, materials engineering, bioenergy orhealth benefts are especially encouraged to apply. We are seeking individualsworking in two general areas: (1) microbial metabolism and synthetic biologyand (2) structure-based enzyme design. These new hires will complement andinteract with existing researchers in systems modeling of metabolism, plantbiochemistry, and biotechnology.
