The delegation of Argentina expressed appreciation for the IADB Presentations however underlined the need for CHS to re-consider the IADB work plan following the discussions by Defense Ministers at CDMA.

CMDA signaled the importance of international cooperation to confront new challenges to defense and security together with a commitment to update the Inter-American defense system.

Final Declaration - CDMA Implications

The final declaration from CDMA X contains 23 approved points. In Para 6., Ministers reiterated their reguest to the OAS Permanent Council to discuss the IA Defense System, including the IADB.

The X Conference accepted the proposal titled “Mechanism of exchange of information on capacities in support of natural disasters”. Each country will determine its respective participation in the initiative in accordance with national requirements and legal frameworks

The IADB did not achieve all of its objectives

Will continue to serve as the Institutional Memory

Annual Plan and Strategic Objectives remain valid

The IADB-led study on the IA Defense system could

be considered within the OAS CHS debate by forming

a multidisciplinary OAS-IADB working group that

leverages the experience and knowledge of those who

contributed to this initiative.

The IADB’s potential to contribute to security and

defense themes should be leveraged.
