SLOVENIA’S GROWING PROBLEM Unemployment – 12,4%. 15% of which are
young people (SURS) Unemployed students
Motivation for work is droping Unstable economic status leads to fewer
young families – aging population
Brain drain into Austria Koroška – highest rate of people working abroad
CAUSES Educational system
Not offering: Critical thinking The Big Picture Practical skills Experience of rural life
Not connected to economy Slovenia’s economy not focused enough on
natural resources Social and natural sciences are not
interconnected
GOAL Teach youth to identify problems, find
solutions & realize them
Create more openness to foreign markets
Improve cooperation
Improve social awareness & Tackle unemployment through community service
ACTION PT. 1
Teach entrepreneurship - start in primary schools Through class projects (in teams):
Biology – raise a plant Science – build an item Fine Arts – paint Etc.
Idea needs to voice or solve a problem Mentorship by students (work placement
experience) Students learn:
Project management Leadership Team work
ACTION PT. 2
Finish class project by: Presenting Marketing (& sales)
Idea links education from primary school to university
Youth learns to: Find problems & solutions Realize solutions Cooperate & lead
RESULT How many hours will your team spend on the
solution? Our team will spend 4 hours every Monday.
How many young unemployed people will you reach? We will reach a vast amount of potentially
unemployed people, by teaching them early on how to employ themselves.
How many young people will you engage? Around 20 per class, in as many schools as
possible.
