USMH was established with strong community (Civic and Business) support Map demonstrates geographical need . . .


About $13.5 million in State of Maryland funds originally invested in USMH after the Citys gift of the old Baldwin hotel building

Scholarships always seen as vital to facilitate access to Higher Education. The Waltersdorf-Henson Challenge Grant raised over $500,000.

Since then, private foundations have been solicited, and the annual Feaste & Frolic fundraising gala adds to scholarship resources

In 2012 2013 academic year: 19 students were awarded a total of $42,280

Since inception, over $130,000 awarded to local students


Past threats to funding at the General Assembly (Del. Bohanan)

Conflicts generated much media attention, and consumed much time

Funding preserved, but threats have impacted public perception and enrollment

Support USMH in front of the General Assembly!

Letters of Support particularly from the Business Community

Document local support to USMH from municipalities, business and civic organizations

Call on elected officials particularly out of the area telling them of your support of USMH


Advance Workforce Education Educate Innovators

Programs that support/enhance the regions forthcoming Economic Development Strategic Plan

Programs that fill vital Workforce Development needs in the region, such as engineering, technology, science, communications and supervising a 21st Century workforce

Programs that continue career pathways for HCC and FCC students


Encourage prospective students to consider USMH

Students in high school thinking about college

Students graduating from, or planning to attend, HCC and FCC

Working adults wanting to complete their degree

Future: What Can We Do Together?


Help raise additional scholarship funds

Corporate sponsorship of Feaste & Frolic

Individual/family sponsorship or purchase tickets

Establish a named scholarship (such as Citi, Washington County and City of Hagerstown)~
