Breakfast! We have an exciting program planned to share the wide scope of services we have available to the

community, as well as getting you up and off your feet with a taste of our group teambuilding activities.

Founded in 1922, Ramapo is built around the simple belief that all people want the same things: to learn, to be liked, to

be valued and to do well. When children (or adults) exhibit behaviors that are at odd with those goals, it reflects some

combination of unmet needs and underdeveloped social or emotional skills. Through our programs, Ramapo helps peo-

ple develop the skills they need to align their behaviors with their aspirations. Our programs include:

Ramapo Retreats: short-term, adventure-based experiences that offer groups the opportunity to discover new

strengths, form new bonds, and be inspired to grow as individuals and as a team.

The Staff Assistant Experience: a unique residential transition-to-independence program for young adults aged 18

to 25 with social, emotional, or learning challenges.

Camp Ramapo: a residential summer camp that serves over 550 children with a range of disabilities and behavioral

challenges, including children affected by autism.

Ramapo Training: providing educators, youth workers, and parents with practical tools for managing difficult be-

haviors and fostering environments that support success for all children.

For those that are interested and have additional time, our staff will be available following the breakfast to provide tours

of our facilities and 250-acre campus.

Dear Members:

I can hardly believe that we are already in the month of November. The

leaves are just about off of the trees and I finally had to give in and turn

my heat on. Everything seems to be moving so fast, but this is the time

of year when we should stop and give thanks.

I am thankful that we are fortunate enough to live and work in a commu-

nity that has overcome extremely difficult economic times and has, in

many respects, grown stronger. I believe that this is not only due to the

fact that we genuinely have great businesses in our area, but it is also

due in large part to the strong relationships that our businesses have with

each other, as well as with our community.

We should be careful to never take our community or our fellow

chamber members for granted. It is sometimes easy to become compla-

cent because we live in such an amazing area, but complacency will

undermine the strengths of our community and yield devastating results.

This is one reason why it is so important that, as the Holiday Season

approaches, we make a conscious effort to support our fellow chamber

members and our community.

Wishing each of you a Happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Sean Kemp

The ChamberLine 11 Ask the Experts ~ A Series of Roundtable Discussions with Leading Industry Professionals

Small businesses looking for higher levels of success in the New Year should plan to attend the Dutchess

County Economic Development Corporation’s Seminar Ask the Experts, to be held on Tuesdays in November

from 7:30 – 9:30am at the Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC).

Ask the Experts is a series of interactive roundtable discussions featuring a number of finance experts and

business development leaders from around the region to discuss financing options, resources, and business struc-

tures to support business growth.

Sponsored by New York Business Development Corporation, the DCEDC will be bringing together industry

experts to provide comprehensive information on select topics supporting business development. Within each sub-

ject area, speakers will cover an aspect of operating a small business and explain the strategies and finance options

available.

November 12 – What type of financing is best for your business? What should you take into consideration when

choosing a business structure? What are the different types of structures and the tax benefit of each?

Due to demand we plan to have funding institutions return to do a special program with our scheduled guest,

Arthur DeDominicis, CPA.

The event will be a unique and dynamic forum where small businesses can connect with industry experts for

an expanded view of financing and corporate structure. New York Business Development Corporation, Commu-

nity Capital Resources and Riverside Bank will be here to discuss funding opportunities available through their

organization along with Arthur DeDominicis who will discuss the various business structures and the benefits of

each.

Arthur DeDominicis, CPA, has over 30 years of experience helping small business with their financial plan-

ning and accounting needs. His firm Arthur DeDominicis, Certified Public Accountants & Consultants has been

providing full service financial planning to small businesses for over 25 years.

November 19 – Attorney Robert J. Levine of Cuddy & Feder, LLP will be here to discuss structuring and start a

new business, including the different types of legal entities that are available, financing options, equity structures

and key employment relationships. The discussion is designed to guide prospective business owners through some

of the key issues facing most new ventures.

Robert is a Partner at Cuddy & Feder, LLP. He practices in the areas of corporate and real estate law, repre-

senting both large and small entities in a broad range of matters. Robert had extensive experience counseling and

advising clients regarding such issues as corporate formations, business sales and acquisitions, operating agree-

ments, shareholder agreements, employment and severance agreements, and general commercial litigation.

“The mission of the DCEDC is to help build the local economy and one way we do that is to invest resources in

helping our community’s existing companies get even better. That’s the purpose of this event” said DCEDC Presi-

dent and CEO Catherine Maloney. “We want to give small businesses a unique opportunity to interact with busi-

ness experts to strategize how to get the most out of their time, energy and resources to increase success in the new

year.”

To register for one or all of the DCEDC roundtable discussions, call 845-463-5400 or

email [email protected] event is free but seating is limited so reserve your spot today.
