~ The football season was' a winni ng season in many ways, even though it started out on the wrong note for the Eag Ie fans and ~ players. A 12-'0 loss to F.airmont East made us real ize we were goi ng t'/) have to get serious and work for, a successful season. Work we did, rolling over Jefferson 41-12 for our most impressive victory of the year. Handling' Colonel White 27-14 on the Astroturf, and then a 21-0 blanking of Springfield Catholic set us for our fourth straight victory. In whipping Patterson 21-0,
• Vernon Saine rushed over a hundred yards, and everyone was very optimistic for the second half of the season. With our record standing at 4-1 we were now gaining recognition in the area as a first rate football team. A 13-0 set-back against' Belmont in the rain and mud was disappointing, but we bounced back the next week against rival Carroll, scoring a 14-6 victory. At Hamilton Badin we came out flying with Steve Bauer going 60 yards on the first play, but we ended up dropping a heart-breaker . 21-20. Closing out the season with the first Gr,eater Dayton League ' Championship game against Alter, we scored first but fell to the Knights, 28-6. This was C-J' s first winning season. Our record was 5-4. We had alot of talent, maybe not so much as in previous years, but it's what we did with it that counted . We worked long days, mol~ing ourselves
\.. into one good, determined football team, proving to others what we already k,new. -Dan Moosbrugger ~

r"The five years at Julienne and three years at C-J have been very full and rewarding years. 'But the pressures of the job through these very signifi cant years have been so demanding that I need to be relieved of them for a whi Ie at least.. " With these words, Sr. Ann Christopher announced that she wi II not return to C-J next year. A native ' Daytonian, Sister has been associated with education in the Dayton area for most of her life.
After attending Corpus Christi elementary and Julienne High schools, Sister entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namurtaking her first vows in January of 1951. She holds an undergraduate degree from St. Mary of the Springs College and a Masters degree from st. Louis University. Sister's first teaching years were in the intermediate grades followed by a total of si x years on the high schoo I I eve I at Bishop Hartley H.S. in Columbus and Notre Dame H.S. in Chicago. Sister Ann Christopher returned to Dayton in 1963 to join the staff of Julienne High School. Appointed Assistant Principal in 1965,
. Sister was principal from 1968 to 1973.
The closing of Julienne and the opening of Chaminade-Julienne High School brought new challenges to Sister Ann Christopher who has guided this "new" school through it's first three years as its Executive Director.
In addition to her involvement within the school, Sister Ann Christopher has been active in the community-being elected to the FROC priority Board in its formative stage, serving on the Boards of the Dayton Area Red Cross and the Domestic Action Program, actil19 as an evaluator for the North Central Association of Schools in assessing other schools' programs, and serving various community groups as a "judge" or advisor for contests, .competitions, etc. Sister was recognized in the fall of 1973 by the DAYTON DAILY NEWS as one of its "Top Ten Women" of ·the Miami Valley.
After 24 unbroken years of teaching and administrating service, .Sister Ann Christopher plans to take a welldeserved break this next year for further study. Words of thanks seem somehow inadequate for such devoted servi ceo We could say thank - you for the time, the patience and hard work. But that is only part of what we have been given.
Perhaps !li e greatest tribute will lie in ~he assurance of b,eing remembered in- a very special and permanent way. So often in our lives, we see .so little to respect. In Sister Ann Chr tstopher, we have known dignity, integrity, faith, wisdom & courage. These are the truths which last & grow. And for these we are grateful.

• wCJr "This is WCJR, broadcasting live from Chaminade-J ulienne High Schoo!,11 These immortal words were first heard late in school year on April 20th. Along with some music, t hey were heard between 8 AM and 3PM Monday through Friday at 640 on your AM dial. But what you heard over the radio didnlt show the work involved in getting CJR on the air. Ever since Ken Urban came up with the idea a year ago, it has been an uphill battle to get on the air. But it finally happened and lid like to thank John Orr, Ed S luzas, Andy Chestnut, Karen Clemons, Ted Bright, Rick Summers, Jeff Orr, Barb Becker, Mary Agnes Mikalauskas, and most especially Ken Urban and Father Bob B ouffi er . They helped through the good times as well as the bad times, like the time the transmitter fizzled out or the monitor
, speaker didnlt work. And who can forget the time George Carlin went over to the wrong band and we sweated out his obscenities? The worst had to be the time we played II Fanny" over the air ... thought I wa's gonna die.
Those were the bad times; the good times more than made up for them. We enjoyed saying hello to the Chem classes and the girls in the locker room, or just doing a good show for people. We made it through the end of the year and the 90° degree heat in the ?tudio, not to mention th'e hassles ... but welve g.ot our foot in the door and no one' i s going to close it on us. Music by Candlelight
The room had seemed rather large, unti I the audience fi led in and placed themselves. A soft breeze teased the wick's light, and sent shadows dancing upon the slightly worn piano. Familiar chatter lingered past the hour of eight, for these evenings were never meant to be prompt. Then, 'a young lady in jears appeared a d almost confidently reached for the crttention of tho e who were waiting. Wi this, the evening had begun. A young musicain adjusteCI the microphone and once again mellow usic was .rele. d within the halls of C-U.

Supposedly, every picture is worth a thousand words. Yet, these two pages reflect the academic programs of C-J with rather scattered words. These pag~s are to be taken as a whole, and as such, reflect the striving individuality of each students interest. Our school contains both business and art ... pragmatism and creativity. Depending upon the individual, our school is seen in many different ways. Some find social excitement, some cling to its educational Vine, and otners find the hollow halls quite meaningless.
Though our school seems crowded at times, we must remember that we are slightly more fortunate than most of our neighboring schools. We do have freedom. To the more responsible student itls not near enough, but we then realize that within this L-shape we have encountered many different persona liti es. It is but a miniature of the realities we will soon face. C-Jl s purpose is quite simple ... Time. It offers us not only the educa· tional chance to grow, but the time to find ourselves, our individuality, before it becomes stifled by the mass.

Rebecca: Mr. Parris, I think you'd best send Reverend Hal @ back as soon as he come. This will set us all to arguin' again in the society, and we thought to have peace this year. I think we ought rely on the doctor now, and good prayer. Let us go to God for the cause. There is prodigious danger in the seeking of loose spirits. I fear it, I fear it.

Proctor: A fire, a fire is burning! I hear the boot of Lucifer, I see his $l lthy face! And it is rny face, and yours, Danforth! ' For them that quail to bring men out of ignorance, as [have quailed, and as you quail now when you know in all your black hearts that this be fraud--God damns our kind especially, and we will burn, we will burn together.

The Baccalaureate Mass took place at 3 :30 on Saturday, June 5th. The graduates entered the church to the classical notes of a brass ensemble performing "Trumpet Tune and Aire" and the celebration was highlighte'd by musi cal selections chosen by the graduation committee for their meaningful words. They included "We may never pa$S his way again", "Fr iends" "t;hq knows where the ti me M''', and" Do you know where ou're going to". Readings
