CHARGING CHARGERS:

Champion High School has implemented a platform to recognize 12 students each month. Teachers will submit the name of a student or two students that they feel exhibit any of the following characteristics and deserve campus recognition.

The characteristics of the Champion Way Include: Trustworthiness, Adaptability, Initiative, Courage, Optimism, Contemplation, Perseverance, Compassion, Loyalty, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility.

Region 20 Mock Trial Competition

Congratulations to our amazing and talented students who won 9 out of 9 votes from the judges. Anna Coulter also received best overall Witness. What a joy to watch these amazing students represent our school so well.

FCCLA Competitors Headed to State

Congratulations to Jacob King and Zach Perlitz!!! They both made a Hole-in-One over the long weekend!! Incredible for one Charger to do it, but two in one weekend is pretty special. Jacob had his hole-in-one at Cordierlla on Saturday, February 2nd from 187 yards out and Zach Perlitz had his on Sunday, February 3rd in a tournament to a blind pin. Both exceptional kids and now have another great golf story to tell.

CHS Boerne Welding Technology Team Wins the Texas Ag Mechanics SUPER BOWL!!!!

Samuel V Champion’s “Iron Man” Welding Team won BIG at the San Angelo Ag Mechanics Contest! February 3-4th Winning the most Coveted Award in Texas Ag Mechanics The Sweepstakes Award! Along with Grand Champion Outdoor Cooking Division!

The Journey was rewarded with a HUGE Team Win for these kids and the Legacy of the Program! The Future looks Bright for these Kids!

Our next competition will be at the San Antonio Ag Mechanics Contest on February 23rd please come out and support these Awesome Kids!!!!

Seniors, we will be taking the senior panoramic picture on Wednesday, February 20th at 10:45 a.m. Orders will be filled on Thursday, February 21st during both lunches. More information will be coming soon.

Sorority Recruitment Opportunity

Baccalaureate is an interdenominational service of worship and is not affiliated with the school district. The service provides an opportunity for graduating seniors and their families to come together in faith to celebrate the end of the high school years and encourage the seniors to embrace the next phase of their lives. Boerne Samuel V. Champion High School PTO Spirit of Community Scholarship

DESCRIPTION The Boerne Samuel V. Champion High School PTO Spirit of Community Scholarship is awarded to a Champion High School senior who has demonstrated exceptional service to the community throughout his/her high school career. There are three awards of $1,000 available.

QUALIFICATIONS

The applicant must be a CHS senior in good standing. Academics, character, disciplinary referrals, and absences may be considered, among other things. The applicant must be enrolled in some form of post-secondary education, which may include career & technical school, community college, or a 4-year college to receive payment of the scholarship.

As this is a PTO scholarship, the parent of the applicant must be a paid PTO member.

Attention Seniors: Do you need help applying for college or completing Scholarship applications?

Mrs. Alamillo will be available beginning Wednesday, January 23 during WES (4-6:00 pm) to assist any Senior who needs help completing their college applications. Any Senior (regardless of who their counselor is) are welcome to stop by the Counseling office/Career Center to get his or her questions answered. All you will need to do is stop by the counseling office and sign up with Mrs. Vargas, so she knows how many seniors will be stopping by.

AP Registration is now open. Please visit the Counseling Office webpage on the CHS website for the registration link and more details.

Taking the Advanced Placement exams is an important part of all AP courses. Boerne Samuel V Champion HS desires that all students take AP exams for the AP classes that they have taken. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn student’s college credit for their high school class, saving a significant amount on tuition.

For the 2019 AP exams, students at Boerne Samuel V Champion HS will be registering online. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access.

This year each AP exam costs $98.00. Boerne Samuel V Champion HS desires that every student be able to take their AP exams. Students requiring financial assistance should contact Mrs. Natalie Walker, natalie.walker@boerneisd.net, in the CHS to learn more.

Online Exam registration is now open. In order to register, students should click on the link provide on the school website or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/440732 to register .To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed the pdf of the confirmation page that is provided at the end. We know that parents may desire to register their students for exams. We strongly recommend that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exams are ordered.

Boerne Samuel V Champion HS is excited to offer families the convenience of paying exam fees online at the time of registration. Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made while avoiding mailing payment.

Here are the important dates for the registration process:

• Fri, Feb 22, 2019 at 11:59 AM - Registrations and payments after this date will incur a $10 late fee per registration.

• Thu, Feb 28, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Registration Ends • Mon, Mar 4, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Registrations that have not been paid for will be

cancelled and exams will not be ordered. • Thu, Feb 28, 2019 - Last day to cancel an exam and receive a full refund. • Wed, Mar 6, 2019 - Last day to cancel an exam with a cancellation fee of $20.00.
