    Relevance and the importance of the issue under study

    The issues under consideration are:

    Whether the change in the admission process 2012 and onwards needed

    Whether the new admission process been able to bring about more

    impact than the old one

    If not what are the changes still required to make it beneficial to all the

    stakeholders

    Efficient admission process reaps out the following benefits:

    Selects the best suited candidate for program offered

    Good Selection will give students that will do better justice to the program

    and will help bring in healthy competition viz a viz intra-college and inter-college

    Good quality graduated students who would be able to lead as managers

    when they work It will help in the branding of the Institute because of the quality of the

    students being graduated

    It will help in making IMI one of the competitive schools amongst other B-

    schools

    Overall growth of the Institute that will be beneficial for all the

    stakeholders i.e. students, faculty, management, employees, recruiters

    Consequences if the issue is not addressed

    1) Brand name of the Institute will be affected

    2) An institutes output is the quality of students they produce and if it is not good the institute

    will not be able to sustain in the long run

    3) Credibility of the institute will be lost and hence it will affect the quality of MBA aspirants

    applying for the courses

    4) Relationship with recruiters will be hampered if the quality of applicants decreases

    5) Eminent faculties would not like to associate with the college

    6) Institutes revenue generating activities like MDPs, Training etc will be hampered

    7) Good Foreign Institutes will not like to associate themselves with a college that has lower

    quality of students that will affect students exchange program

    Current status of the issue: through diagnostic research

    Plenty of students (34%) were

    not convinced with the

    inclusion of the psychometric

    test as it can be fudged

    Cut off percentile for the

    programs was reduced to 85%ile

    for PGDM-HR and 92%ile forPGDM.

    Proposed set of activities to address the issue

    %ile cut off should be increased ; will sent the messageto student fraternity that IMI is at par with the other

    premier B-schools thus adding to its brand value.

    Case study based GD should be included in the process

    Students and other Admission Committee members

    should be more active on the social media

    Real time waitlist movement to be included in the

    website. This practice is there in various B-schools likeXIMB where an aspirant can track the waitlist

    movement on real time.

    Include IMI in the SBI scholarship list and tie up for loans

    with other banks for the assistance of education loan

    Strategic processes

    Communication:The admissions blog should haveequal participation of students and professors

    Innovation: Thinking outside the box and using

    methods such as online waitlist, videos on a day inthe life of an IMI student

    Diffrentiation: With regard to high percentile andGD formats , we need to diffrentiate to send across

    a message about the intellectual capital

    Simplification : Students want a simplified process

    which is streamlined and objective. this also helpsin better management of the process.
