Changing face of the Skills Landscape From Manufacturing to Maintenance
BAE Systems have transferrable skills and resources, but not in sufficient quantities to meet the growing national demand.
The establishment of the Aircraft Maintenance Academy will help meet that challenge by delivering accelerated training, tailored to the specific requirements.
Chose the East of England as it is close to the Main Operating Bases.
In 2009 BAE Systems was awarded UK MoD contracts relating to maintenance and support of fast jet aircraft worth approximately £1bn.
It is recognised that this business has significant potential to grow.
There is a national shortage of competent aircraft maintenance engineers on a regional basis.
