"Lucy, Lucy, Lucy". Someone rubbed my sholder." What?" I mumbled. Still half asleep." Happy Birthday Lue. ". I opened my eyes to see my mumleaning in my room attempting to walk me up."But you haveto get up now sweetheart it's 7:30 where going hiking. Socome on get up.""Okay, I'm up, I'm up" I told her groaning as I sat up."Breakfast is in 10. Hurry up, get yourself ready the washtent's free."she whispered before she left.I closed the door up all the way and pulled some clothes out

of my holdall. I quickly changed into my hiking clothes- thicktrackies, light blue t'shirt and my black hoodie. I had put aspare change of clothes, a towel and my swiming costume inmy hiking pack. Knowing our parents we would be climing orswimming or somthing like that along the way.When I was finished with that, I left the tent and walkedslowly down to the wash tent to wash and clean my teeth. Ichecked my reflection again. I was still really pale,huummmm? Mabe it was the lighting. My curly brown hair

seemed to have a life of it's own. I racked my brush threw it,trying to at least semi tame my hair. My face was tired andfed up. But this was normal I don't really like hiking. I meanwho actually does? it's a mystery to me. I pulled my hair intoa ponytail and left the wash tent almost walking smack into

Tristan."Goodness T. Could you make a noise or somthing. Don'tsneek up on me" I told him feeling stupid. At times I can bereally clumsy."Happy Birthday to you too," he paused running a hand

through his messy hair. "I was just about to knock, anywayare you coming for breakfast?" he asked me."Yes I was just coming up" I told him "Sorry. Happy Birthday

T" I said hugging him."Thanks, you too. So are you coming for breakfast?" Hechallenged.

"Yes" I replied sarting to walk back up to the camp."Are you looking forward to seeing Zoey and Chris? I am" Heasked."Yeah. There really nice. Plus We get out of playing cards

tonight" I exulted."Yes! I totally forgot about that" I knew what he meant,playing cards on our birthday was the worst. It was ourbirthday should'nt we get to choose the days activety.When we got to campsite I sat in my chair next to T and Dadbrought some toast over to us."Eat up guys. We've got a big day ahead of us" He saidwinking at Seth What the heck. I looked at Tristan and heshook his head in confusion. It looked like we where on thesame page ,again.

Then before we could stop them, all 4 of them burst intochoras of Happy Birthday. I wanted to hide. When they werefinished, Tristan and I just look at each other and then burstout laughing. Then everyone was laughing. Good they wern'tgoing to ask us why we laughed.When we were all finished. Mum told us to grab our packsand when we did she led us out of camp through the thickforest."Mum where are we going?" T asked Peggy.

"It's a surprise." She answered.After several hours of walking we came to a cliff. My dadwalked right up to it and started to lach his feet onto it."WHAT? Where Climbing? That?" I shreeked completlyterrified." It's not that bad Lue, come on give it a try" My Mumwhispered. After dad got halfway up she followed him."Lue your go" Seth said gentally. Okaaaay. I can do this. Ican do this!. Okay.I steped onto the thin ledge and started to pull myself up thesheer cliff face. Don't I repeat, DON'T LOOK DOWN! I toldmyself sternly. I can do it. With my heart pounding in mychest and my breathing eratic, I pulled myself onto the topof the cliff.Within minutes Tristan, Peggy and Seth had made it to thetop.

"You okay Lucy?" T asked me understanding my pasthesitation. I gave a tight nod and he smiled, "You'll be fine"he told me."I know." I said to boh of us.

Next they made us do river crossing. Dad and Seth werebeing so stupid that they actuall fell in. They were singingthe theme tune from Danger Mouse. `He's the greatest` Imean come on who's not going to laugh at that. They werelaghing so hard that they fell in. They needed time to dry sowe ate lunch on the side of the river. Sandwiches andapples. While we ate Dad and Seth continued to be idiots.

They were singing songs that even I don't know. Theretotally crazy. Anyway, within no time at all we were at theDawsons camp.

"Hey Tristan, Hey Lucy!" Zoey ran up to us and hugged me."I can't belive your finally here Lue" She let me go and thenbouced up to Tristan and hugged him to. "You too T.""Hey Guys" Chris greeted us as we walked into the tent.

There Mum and Dad were making pizza for everyone."Oh my haven't you 2 grown" Peggy exclamied. It was true.We always see the Dawsons during our camping trip andZoey and Chris had changed. Chris was 1 year youger thanus and Zoey was 2 years younger than Tristan and I. You

could so tell they were siblings. They both have blue eyesand they both had platinim blond hair. For new teens theywere really tall.Before dinner us `kids` went for a bit of an explore."So what are you's up to during the tortured time of camp"Chris asked us."I don't really know, Do you Tristan?" I asked him. For uscamp has normally been about our parents trying to give uslife skills. I mean who actually needs to know how to beprepared for what a bear attack. I swear I don't think I willever understand my parents. In theory I am so much closerto Tristan than even my parents."I don't know Lucy, mabe more torture," When Zoey gaspedhe revised. "Joking Zoe you don't have to freak" He paused."Seriously I do not have a clue what were doing. What aboutyou guys what are you doing?" He asked them. When they

Tristan. As we walking down the trail we passed an old cave.

"What's in there?" T asked Chris."I don't have a clue. Mum says that the cave is reallydangerous and she will not let us go inside it. She said itcould calapse on us" he finished fast looking eagar to justget out of here as quickly as possible. "Lets go. I amstarving." he said pointedly."Okay lets go eat" I agreed.A Little while later our parents told us we were staying herefor the night, so we needed to sort out sleeping argmentsbecause we were sleeping outside. So Before we had our

dinner at 11:30 pm we were snuggled around the campfireon blankets. Tristan was next to me and Zoey was on myother side. Chris on T other side. There parents thought itwould be fun to have a huge sleepover outside, with pizza!Even better.It was really close to midnight and we were still all wideawake."Lets sing some campfire songs" Zoey sugested in a whisperto me. Why not I thought to myself. I nodded to her.

"1,2,3;" she whispered and then we started belting cumbiarge. T and Chris gave us surprised looks before theyjoined in and then all of our parents joined in too.We had to get ready for bed soon. So Mum told us after thenext song we were to get sorted for bed.

Then what do you know they started singing Happy birthday.Again. I felt my cheeks heat up. As they were singing, theclock striked mdnight. At thatpoint I felt it. The pain. My whole body crumpled in pain.Agony. No one else seemed to realise anthing was wrong.Why? My heart was racing, Adreneling pulsing threw myviens."Lue did you feel that?" T whispered. His voice soundeddifferent, not his normal easy going tone. Still I could notanswer him. I didn't seem capable of speach. "Lucy!" Ilooked at him. Lost. His voice got more gental, "Lue that pain

I snuck a glance at our parents and they lookedastonished.Darkness started to close in around us making things hardsee and really hard to breath.As if taking form from the shadows, a man stepped out intothe light raditing off the small fire. His clothes looked likethey were from a different time." Greetings Lucy Brandon,Greetings Tristan Brandon" My heart felt like it was going tocrash threw my chest. Who was he? Brandon? What? He

continued on in his slimmy voice."15 Long years finally over.Finally I will win. Everything will be mine at long last. Kaldenwill be mine" He scratched his chin and grined. Seemingpleased at this idea.Other shadows started to come in and I started to losemyself."Say your last words" the man said.Run! My mind screamed the comand at me. But before Icould T pulled me to my feet and we got out of there fast.

Somehow he had grabbed our packs he handed it to me andwe sprinted down the trail. Stopping at the old cave."NoTristan it's not safe.""Lucy come on," he jerked his head towards the cave,pleading with me. "I can't lose you too. We have to insidenow." Our names were starting to get whispered threw thewind again. So I agreed. Hopfully we wouldn't get killed. Howblaze can one sound at the edge of death? So my style.We

jogged inside quickly, T inside first, when we got inside, hedragged me to a big rock that would cover us. But as soon ashe got behind it, he crumpled, falling to the ground instantly."Lucy!" he choked in a broken whisper. His shape began tofade.No I was not going to let him die. I jumped down next to himand threw my arms around him. But as soon as he was in myarms, the pain hit me too. Had I really thought the change

was agony? Hell this was worse. It was as if a million knifeswere pressing at every part of my body."Tristan?" My own broken whisper matched his perfectly."Whats happening?" He was completly unconscience. I could

feel my body weakening and then as the pain exploded inmy head once more. The darkness gratefully swallowed meand I passed out for the first time in my life.
