A glass was filled with ice cubes, as shown in the figure above. After one hour, the level of ice cubes in the glass was lower, and some colourless liquid was collected in the shallow dish below.

(a) What is the process that causes the change of state of matter as shown in figure above?

(b) Azman thought that the liquid in the dish came from the ice cubes in the glass. Is he right? Explain your answer.

(c) Suggest a simple way to carry out this activity to prove Azman wrong.

(d) Mrs Lee bought some green leafy vegetables. The grocer put the vegetables in a plastic bag and tied the bag. When Mrs Lee got home one and a half hours later, she noticed some drops of a colourless liquid had formed inside the bag. Were the liquid drops formed in the same process as shown in the figure above?

The apparatus above was used in an experiment. The following steps were carried out.

Step 1 : Two spatulas of iodine crystals were placed in two test tubes P and Q respectively.

Step 2 : Test tube P was heated until the crystals disappeared. The time taken for the crystals to disappear was recorded.

Step 3 : Test tube Q was left aside and observed at 10 minute intervals. The time taken for the crystals to disappear was recorded.
