Why is Niagara Falls important to the Northeast region ?
Hydropower plants on the Niagara River capture the energy of the flowing water to fun mills and machines.
Niagara is the largest producer of electricity in New York State.
Niagara generates enough power to light 24 million 100 watt light bulbs at once. Your lamp at home is 40 watt.
Much of the electricity is produced by the falls for the region.
People can use the hydropower to make machines run.
Many tourists spend money when they come to visit the falls each year.
