Sample Paragraph We learned about West Africa this week. One of the most interesting things was learning that West Africans did not have a written language – only a spoken language. Because of this, storytellers called griots played an important role in West African villages. Griots passed on history to future generations through their stories. I also learned that in West Africa they did something called labor specialization – this means that people specialized in one job instead of doing everything. The most common and important job that people did was farming.
