Balance of Power
• Although the President has a great amount of power, America did not want another King so the President’s power is balanced with the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch
President’s Roles• 1. Legislative Leader
– Recommends or suggests new laws to Congress.
State of the Union Address = speech given each year, usually in January, by the President to Congress outlining what the President wants them to do that session.
The President can also veto legislation he does not want to become law.

U.S. forces. All military officers answer to the President– President can send troops anywhere
in the world, but after 60 days Congress has to approve the troops remaining.
