Area of a Rectangle
The area of a rectangle is the product of its base and height.
A = bh
h

Area of a Parallelogram
The area of a parallelogram is the product of a base and the corresponding height.
A = bh h
b

The base of a parallelogram is any of its sides.
The corresponding altitude is a segment perpendicular to the line containing the base drawn to the side opposite the base.
The height is the length of the altitude.
