Se7en main character

This is the first time we see the face of the main character in the film Se7en. The characters name is William Somerset and is played by Morgan Freeman. He is a detective in this film and we can work this out at the beginning by what he is wearing. For example he is wearing the uniform of an American

detective with a holster for a gun. Later on in the scene we also see his badge.

From the first scene, the audience gets the impression that William may not be happy with his job or life. This is because when we first see his face he looks depressed. Therefore this could mean that he has a bad temper and might turn out to be a very aggressive character.

In the first scene we can see that the main character lives in a nice house and is also very organised. This shows us that the character looks after himself well and also his house. The screenshot on the right shows how he neatly lays out all of his stuff that he will need in the morning. This implies that he takes his job very seriously and is very good at his jobs even if he may not enjoy it.

Fargo main character

This is one of the first frames in which we are introduced to the main character in Fargo. The characters name is Carl Showalter.

His appearance isn’t anything out of the ordinary. He looks like a traditional middle-aged man for that time period. However his facial expressions tell me that he is worried and nervous about

something. This also tells the audience that he could be a nervous individual and

not very confidant or brave. We later find out that he is nervous about meeting two people about organising a kidnapping.

Within the first scene I don’t find out much about where he lives, however we do find out about his home life. For example we know that he is in need of money and will kidnap his wife so she pays a ransom. This tells me that his relationship with his wife isn’t that good anymore and they could have lots of arguments at home.
