Charities To Get Involved WithNick Bidic

Give for others. Gift for yourself.

Think to a time, a moment when you did something for someone else. Maybe you bought someone’s coffee when they forgot their wallet. Perhaps you gave some of your groceries to someone without food. Even just helping an elderly person down a flight of stairs, being generous, kind, and charitable makes you feel amazing.

I know that whenever I do something for someone else, I feel really, really great. That’s one of the reasons I started St. John’s House and why charity is a huge part of my life.

There are many other charities to get involved with and give to out there, especially this time of year with the holidays approaching.

Here are some charities you and your family should support…

Kids Caring 4 Kids

After watching an episode of Oprah about the vast numbers of African AIDS orphans and being struck by the difference between her own life and theirs, Kendall Clesemier started Kids Caring 4 Kids. Raising over $700,000 for children, schools, and whole villages, this charity specifically encourages children to get involved with the volunteering and giving.

Toys for Tots

This charity is especially rewarding to get involved with during the holiday season and kids are thrilled to be helping out because it’s all about the toys! Toys for Tots is directed by the Commander of the Marine Forces Reserve and provides toys to families that can’t afford presents for the holidays. Children that get involved and choose the gifts to give, are left with a valuable lesson: it feels good to give to others.

The Girl Effect

With the belief that investing in women and women’s education is investing in the future, The Girl Effect aims to achieve this goal as well as spread awareness about the 250 million girls across the globe that are living in poverty. The charity aims to inform others about this issue and the opportunities many girls do not receive: education, safety, healthcare, freedom of speech, equality, monetary security, job opportunities…

St. John’s House Foundation

I started St. John’s House in the Spring of 2014. It is located in Rosenhayn, New Jersey, the small town where I grew up. I had begun to notice a need for a charity in the community and I felt that I needed to do something to help those less fortunate than I. Through community support, we aim to provide services like free daycare, free meals at all hours of the day, clothing, lodging, tutoring, education, counseling, and support
