MAP 1- ROAD AND TRANSPORT LAYOUT
The main road that caters to the Charkop sector-2 is 27.5m wide.
The road has been constructed under Road Development Project for the Charkop.
The S-2 type of roads are the ones which run north-south and are 18m wide.
The 6m wide roads caters to the MHADA colonies and bungalows which forms the core of the sector.The S-1,S-2 and the 6m wide interior roads service for vehicular movement.
Only the paths surrounding the public playground are the ones which are purely pedestrian in
nature.
All the roads do have a pedestrian path running along with it. (width of the pathway vary on each
road)

Transportation-
The main source of transportation for the people living in Charkop sector-2 is BEST bus service.
The bus stops are located along the main road and the S-2 type of roads.
The bus stops that are peripheral or integral to this sector are Charkop village,Jay Ganga, Charkop
Police Station,I.E.S School.
No taxi or autorickshaw stand.
Autorickshaws are available and is means of transportation.
Distance of the sector from nearest railway station-(Borivali station)
Distance of the sector from nearest airport- (Indira Gandhi International Airport)
The transportation in charkop sector-2 is insufficient.
The frequency of the BEST buses is sparse.
(1 in every 15-20 minutes- during peak hours)
Only three buses cater to charkop sector-2. (244,461,388)
The autorickshaw service is average.
Since the sector-2 falls in the interior of the charkop and also since the upcoming sectors like 8 and 9
still on verge of development the transportation is not yet upto the mark.
The frequency of the buses alone are insufficient to cater to the volume of working class people who
has their work places located outside of charkop sector-2.Hence the buses are over crowded during the peak hours.
There is no share-autorickshaw service.
The road conditions in the charkop sector-2 is very good.
The roads are well maintained.
The street sections speaks about the quality of streetscape.
The tree cover along the street is very good.
Thus the street conditions makes the residents walk the short distances rather than using public or
private transportation.

MAP-2 LAND USE
Land use map determines the area covered and utilised for varied purposes.
It gives an account of the type of the structures present in the area.
Land use map will give the insight about the ratio and proportions between the areas allotted to
purely residential purpose, mixed use, purely commercial space, public buildings, industrial areas,service areas and open spaces.
Hence by reading the map we can understand the segregation of areas related to the functions they
carry out.
Charkop sector-2 has total area of-sq.m.
The area covered by purely residential areas includes the residential buildings which does not
accommodate any form of commercial activity. These are mostly the residential buildings with stilt
and also MHADA colonies that does not carry out any commercial activities which most of the d type
of houses in the colonies undertake.
PURELY RESIDENTIAL AREA- sq.m.
The area covered by the mixed buildings are the residential buildings which does carry out
commercial activities too. The shop lines at the ground floor level indicates the mixed use property
of the structure. Some of the d-type houses in the MHADA colonies also carry out commercial
activities too.
MIXED USED STRUCTURES AREA-sq.m.
The area covered by commercial building are purely for commercial purpose.
NO PURELY COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE PRESENT IN THE STRUCTURE
The public buildings includes the school buildings,hospitals,police stations etc.PUBLIC BUILDINGS AREA-sq.m.
The area under open spaces is also considered under land use. It includes parks and playgrounds.
OPEN SPACE AREA-sq.m.
Service related structures including electric substations, transformers etc. are also segregated in the
Land Use survey.
SERVICE STRUCTURE AREA-sq.m.
By reading the existing Land Use map of Charkop sector-2 we get to know the purely commercial
spaces are not at all present in the sector-2.
All the commercial activities are scattered well throughout the sector.
The public buildings in the sectors includes Charkop Police Station, I.E.S School, St. Marys High
School,Bhagvat High School.
The open spaces includes two municipal playground, and a Manoranjan park.
The service structures include three Reliance Energy Sub stations.
Sector-2 also has a temple which is regarded as a sensitive area.
By reading land use map of Charkop sector -2 we also get to know the ratios regarding the amount
of open space an individual living in the sector has it for his perusal.
There is also vacant land which is governed by Airport Authority of India.
The land use of Charkop sector-2 gives us the idea about the kind of functions that will be carried
out in the space during the day,it also gives us the idea about the density of population distributed
across the sector. Gives us the idea about the floating population catered by the sector too.

The ground coverage map gives us idea about the accommodation of ground areas.
It classifies the ground space in terms of percentage area covered by the residential areas,
commercial areas, area covered by the roads and pathways.
