Mascaro found Barry Seiver’s studio, and sent Debbie Cichlid and Charlie in there to learn how to make records and overdub. Robert Mascaro convinced Charlie to change the name to Charlie Pickett and the Eggs. “Mitch Mestel quit because he thought Bobby Mascaro would rip us off when we became millionaires,” says Charlie. “Seriously, we drew 15 friends to the gig he played.” (Mitch Mestel claims he grew tired of Robert Mascaro’s anti-semitism.) #4 Recorded second single: If This Is Love b/w Slow Death Sold 2,000 copies Open Records (1981) Produced by Charlie Pickett Jim Johnson helped out on bass for three shows, then left to join the Chant. “He is the nicest guy in rock’n’roll,” says Charlie. Charlie says, “This line-up toured the entire U.S. except the Pacific Northwest. Weplayed 60 shows in 110 days, with two weeks off to record Route 33, and one weekoff due to a van wreck in LA. This was a hard-working outfit.” And without bookingagent/road manager Richard Shelter, the Charlie Pickett & the Eggs footprint on theclubgoers of the day would not be nearly as extensive.

Charlie says, "In 1980-83, the players fromthe scene would sometimes recombine. Iplayed with The Eat 3-4 times as TheYeehaws-playing alt-country-rock. TheBobs and I played as The Flies 2-3 times. Iforget what we did-I think everyone justbrought in 3-4 songs, mostly roots rockwith a twist of art."

2006-

Charlie Pickett &the Mothers of Immersion 2006

Charlie and Johnny drifted apart musically. Charliewanted to continue on playing blues-rock, whileJohnny preferred to play psychedelic/garage rock.

This line-up first played together April 28, 2006.Rick Rossano plays with The Dillengers.

Dave Frosh’s first gig with the Eggs was at the Edge,Singer Island 12/31/81. Everybody knew that Froshwas taking over on bass as soon as the Weasles playedtheir last gig EXCEPT Jim Johnson. He found out listen-ing to the Frosh being interviewed on the local PBS radiostation while riding in a car with Pickett/Salton/Galway.

This line-up was the only one keyboards wereincluded in a Pickett band with Bruce Wismerplaying both guitar and piano.

Nobody thought Shibler would be interestedin playing bass for the Eggs, because he wasTOTALLY into progressive rock (Gong, ELP,Yes, Genesis, etc.)
