    THE PRESIDENT’S RAMBLINGS

    Hello all...

Debra and I have just returned from Quadra and Cortez Islands. Although I

have visited the Islands before--on water well business--we had not explored

them extensively. Gorge Harbour, Whaletown, Heriot Bay, Granite Bay, Squirrel

Cove and Manson’s Landing did not escape our scrutiny. We did the trip in a true

funkiness manner as we boon-docked our way around. It is an Oyster lovers’ para-

dise! Just prior to this trip, we attended our unit’s executive meeting held in Al-

dergrove. It was a very productive and well-attended meeting where our unit’s

rallies and caravans were presented. It promises to be an exciting year! The

dates and times for these events will be presented both here in the newsletter

and on our unit’s website. The latest info or any changes will appear on our web-

    site.

During September, Debra and I also had the wonderful experience of attending

the Region 12 Rally held in Lodi, CA. It was noted that they have the same issues

of getting volunteers and communication (.com) both horizontally and vertically as

we do. The solution for the .com problem and the direction WBCCI is taking will

be through the Google Calendar. It will link all units in WBCCI instantly; what a

great thing for those traveling and attending rallies and impromptu or last minute

changes to our own unit rallies and caravans. Monty, our unit webmaster and pub-

lisher, will be making it happen for us.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you at the Christmas Luncheon on the

8th of December. Details found elsewhere in the News-

letter and Website. To those unable to attend this af-

fair both Debra and I want to wish you and your family a

very Merry Christmas. 2014 appears to be a grand year

for Unit 121 and WBCCI. Keep those wheels turning...

    Best Wishes.

    COMMUNITY SERVICE

We are always impressed by the number of aluminum pull tabs we receive from our members, affili-ates and friends !!!! Remember to keep saving those tabs and bring them to the next rally as this is a great way to raise money for charity (in the case of BC Unit, proceeds go to sending children with severe or chronic illnesses and disabilities to summer camp at the Zajak Ranch for Children). We coordi-nate our donations with Sharon Pentecost who, for more than 25 years, has been collecting aluminum for charitable organizations. Community Service Coordi-nators, Alex and Arlene Matches will also ensure any donation of warm women’s or children’s clothing goes to the Shelter for Abused Women and that donated foodstuffs are given to the Food Bank. Marilyn & Gene Van Iderstine are pleased to accept old towels and blankets for the SPCA and we always collect food items for the Food Bank at any of our ral-lies, dinners or luncheons. Please be generous…!!!

are selling because they have purchased a newer model

trip to the 2014 International Rally in Gil-

year to get the best pricing.

This is a wonderful venue for the rally and

we are anticipating a great turnout from

BC Unit — perhaps an organized caravan

    to the event?

Report on the BC Unit Halloween Rally at Eagle Wind RV Park Aldergrove.

We were a small group that gathered for the last rally of the year, but we were big on having a good time. There were six trailers in attendance – Tom Akam, Jacquie Mason and Stewart Biggan, Judy and Gerry Greth, Tom and Brigitte Sooke, Castel and Jay Tuason, Gene and Marilyn Van Iderstine (Barry Hook and Paul Reimer were drive ins).

Castel did a great job of decorating the hall. Everyone carved pumpkins on Saturday afternoon and they were lit and put on display for the Halloween party Saturday evening. Sunday we were blessed with a bright, sunny day so we were able to enjoy some time outdoors.
