ONTHLY NEWS LETTER OF THE
Next Meeting July 30th
Always the last Thursday of the month
Our Club Our club is a group of people interested in recovering artifacts, coins, and other interesting items from
the past and various historical research topics. Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every
month at the back door behind Evangel Community Church on 76 Sandy Street in Chatham. Guests are
always welcome. At each meeting members may enter their finds of the month in the Finds of the
Month Competition. The programs consist of talks by club members or invited speakers, slide or video
shows, artifacts displays or demonstrations of new products.
The club maintains a small library of books,
magazines and maps, which may be checked
out for one month.
Our club strives to improve the public image of detector users and other amateur historical collectors.
We therefore abide by the Code of Ethics.
We can be contacted by email at

June Fun Hunt:
We had 20 members participate in the hunt. The weather was perfect and everyone enjoyed the hunt.
July Hunt
The July Hunt will take place in Erieau on Saturday, 18 July 9:00 am to 12:00
Future Hunts
The Fall Hunt is scheduled for the 26 Sept.
The joint hunt with the London club to be held in Port Stanley, is tentatively scheduled for 3 October, 2015.
Radio World is looking into holding a hunt in Toronto on the 19 September. As more information comes
forward it will be passed on.
Grand Bend
The cottage rents for $600 and is available the weekend of 11 to 13 September. The cottage will accommodate
about 14 people. We had 8 people committed to go, if anyone else would like to go, please contact Julie. It was
also decided if not enough of our members commit to the weekend we will invite people from the London club
to join us. It was agreed to let Julie book the cottage and pay the $120 deposit.
Meeting Place
We are still trying to find a new meeting place. We are asking all members to reach out to their contacts to see if
they can find something suitable for the club to meet. Our guest, Bob offered to reach out to a local service club
to see if we could rent their space at a reasonable price.
Guest Speakers
We are looking for suggestions for guest speakers to give a presentation at the meetings.
Constitution and By-Law Review
This was reviewed and amendments were made to several sections and updated. Greg will email a copy to
everyone.
Hunting Sites
Julie reports that she is filling her money jar, by going to Tecumseh Park after the Wednesday night concerts.
Coin News
The mint will be putting $5.00 coins into circulation starting in 2017, this will make hunting a little more
profitable.
There are counterfeit toonies from Quebec in circulation, the operation has been shut down, but these coins may
become valuable in the future.
The mint is also doing a metal recovery program and as such are melting down more coins for their base metals.
Membership List
It was agreed to send everyone a list of members and their contact information.
