Woombah Carols- Friday November 30! - Please make sure you mark down Friday November 30 in your calendars. Our students will be performing two Christmas Carols and a surprise song as well as a dance at the Woombah Carols. It would be wonderful to have all the students present on the night. The night begins at 6:00pm and we generally perform at the start of the evening.

Woody Head Excursion - Going home with this newsletter is the permission note for our whole school excursion to Woody Head. Please sign and return payment as soon as possible. Please note we will be requiring parent volunteers to assist with the BBQ and other duties on the day. Please see Mr Speirs if you are able to assist.

School Fees/Contributions - There are still several outstanding school contributions to be paid for this year. Your school contributions go towards text books, exercise books, learning materials, IT licenses, craft projects, music, dance, ukulele and all visiting performers. These are essential in order for our school to keep the amount of notes and money requests from being sent home to a minimum. Outstanding invoices are being sent home this week.

Have a great week everybody! Greg Speirs

Upcoming Events - After a relatively quiet start to the term things are about to get very busy. Below is a list of upcoming

events.

Calendar Changes Please note our whole school combined Woody Head excursion and Years 3-6 ‘Hooked on Fishing’ day will now be held at Woody Head on Friday November 30. P&C News - As part of our schools end of year program, the P&C likes to run a disco for the students. This year it will be held at the Harwood Island Community Hall on Thursday 22nd November from 6pm-8pm. All of the students are invited to come along for a night of dancing and fun with the friends. This is a P&C run event so there will be no teacher supervision. If you are able to help out with setting up, chaperoning, canteen or packing up the hall, please speak to one of your P&C representatives, send a note in to school or contact Sahnti on 0432 439 815. The kids have decided not to have a specific theme this year but everyone still wants to dress up so anything goes! There will be some prizes on the night for awesome dancing, creative dress ups and great attitude so encourage your child to get involved. Tickets are $10 and include entry, hot dog and a popper. There will also be icy poles and baked goodies available to purchase on the night. If your child has any dietary requirements, please leave a message at the school and our amazing canteen team will accommodate. Tickets are available from the front office.

Canteen News - Canteen will be CLOSED this week on Wednesday. Friday lunch option is: Lamb kofta wraps with mint salad and yogurt or sweet chilli sauce. Please specify which sauce your child like and if they don't want mint salad (tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, mint) Volunteers are: Katie and JJ. Cheers Lucy

Westpac Helicopter Day: Friday 23 November

The SRC are organising our annual red and yellow mufti day to raise money for the Westpac Helicopter Rescue Service. Students can come to school wearing red or yellow or both and bring a gold coin donation. Families are also asked to raid their piggy banks for 5c and 10c coins which will be used to cover a scale drawing of a helicopter. We look forward to raising funds for this very important service. Thanks for your support!

Robotics WORK OF THE WEEK

Ryan Enns - 2018 End of Year ConcertS!

You read it right! This year I am planning not one but TWO end of year concerts for all of my wonderful

guitarists and choirs! We have worked on so much awesome music this year and I wanted to make sure we got

a chance to showcase it so I had a crazy idea which I hope will end up being a really great crazy idea.

The first of the two events will be busking under the big green marquee at the yamba river markets on

Sunday the 25th of November from 9am. This has been an annual highlight for my students and for the markets

for the past 4 years but this year is going to be bigger and better than ever. The main difference will be that

students from all different schools will be playing and singing together in every item of the program. We will

run through the same program at both events so that it also serves as a rehearsal for our second event which

we call….

The Downriver Spectacular!!! The Downriver spectacular is something I’ve been meaning to organize for years

and this is the first time I’ve actually gone through with it. With the help of the Clarence Valley Conservatorium

I have booked the auditorium at the Yamba Bowling Club on December 8th for a massive end of year concert

featuring students from Yamba public school, St. James Yamba, Gulmarrad public school, Chatsworth Island

public School, Iluka public School, Maclean Public School, Maclean High School, Harwood Island Public School

and South Grafton Public School.

Here are the important details: Busking at the Yamba River Markets

When: Sunday the 25th of November, 2018 from 9-11am Where: Under the big Green Marquee at the Yamba River Markets, Ford Park. Downriver Spectacular

When: Saturday the 8th of December, 2018 from 6:30-8pm Please have children there no later than 6:15pm. Where: In the main Auditorium at the Yamba Bowling Club. Please note we've had to switch to the Bowlo instead of the the golfie due to capacity. PLEASE NOTE: These are not school events, parents are responsible for their children during the events. Hopefully I can convince a few teachers into coming to help muster all these kids on and off the stage. Please wear your school uniform. It will be great to see where all the kids are from. Please let me know if you do not want your children photographed at either event. Thanks so much for all of your support throughout the year. These will hopefully be positive and memorable events for all of us. A lot to look forward to!
