S t. Stephen Catholic Church began as a mission parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Chaanooga in 1960 with 79 families, with our first Mass held in the school auditorium. Through the faith, patience, and generosity of our community, we were finally able to dedicate our current church in 1995, and today we have a community of over 600 families that call St. Stephen home. Over the last few months, our parish leadership has identified the capital/funding needs of St. Stephen and conducted a town hall meeting to gather feedback from parishioners. The results of the survey indicated the need for structural improvements and enhanced usage of our facilities, as well as some upgrades to our worship space. The Home Campaign will enable St. Stephen to address these needs while also supporting our growing Catholic Church in East Tennessee. It is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of current and future generations of Catholics at St. Stephen and throughout our vibrant and growing diocese, and your prayerful consideration of support is appreciated. Please see the back of this brochure for more details about St. Stephen’s Home Campaign parish projects. St. Stephen Catholic Church began as a mission parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Chattanooga in 1960 with 79 families, with our first Mass held in the school

auditorium.

Our Home Campaign ProjectsCapital Projects | $629,000We have a long list of projects to address with our share of the campaign funds, some minor and some significant. As a whole, the improvements to our campus will positively impact the lives of parishioners of all ages at St. Stephen. To address all of the needs listed below, St. Stephen would have to reach our “Pastor’s Goal”, which would result in St. Stephen keeping a little over $630,000 for our parish projects.

If we reach our “Level 1” Goal, we will address the following projects:

Urgent Maintenance | $98,000We have identified several costly maintenance issues that need to be addressed. First, we need to replenish funds used for the recent repair of our Church roof. Additionally, structural repairs are needed for our administrative building’s walls.

Sanctuary Improvements | $25,000We will add stained glass windows as well as upgrade our audio/visual equipment in our Church.

Campus Improvements | $20,000We plan to convert the rectory carport to a garage for the safety and security of our pastor. In addition, we also plan to make general improvements to the signage around our campus.

Administrative Building Updates | $60,000We will renovate the library and board room, our youth room, and improve usage of the lower level of our administrative building with the addition of flex partitions.

Preschool Addition | $80,000The education of our youth is one of the primary ministries of the Catholic Church and St. Stephen. We will add a preschool to our church building for our families seeking a Catholic education for their children.

Columbarium | $166,000The columbarium will provide an option for those who would like to be interred on St. Stephen’s grounds.

If we reach our “Pastor’s Goal”, we will be able to improve accessibility to our administration building with the addition of an elevator. This would be in addition to our “Level 1” projects listed above. The cost of the elevator is estimated to be $180,000.
