EU sanctions

On 7 January 7 2015, the EU issued notice of amendments to its sanctions against Syria (including now jet fuel and fuel additives), and against Crimea and Sevastopol (sale, supply, transfer of certain goods and provision of technical or financial assistance related to the specified goods).

Nuclear Suppliers Group The NSG has published on its website Good Practices for the implementation of brokering and transit/transshipment controls authored by participating States (notably Germany) as well as a document titled “The Nuclear Suppliers Group: Its Origins, Role and Activities” (INFCIRC 539 Rev 6, published by the International Atomic Energy Agency on 22 January 2015).

Cuba

On December 17, 2014, the President announced that the United States is taking historic steps to chart a new course in bilateral relations with Cuba and to further engage and empower the Cuban people. In these final rules, the Commerce and Treasury Departments are taking coordinated actions to implement this policy.

AsiaAsian Export Control seminar

From 17 to 19 February 2015, the 22nd Asian Export Control Seminar was held in Tokyo by the Center for Information on Security Trade Control (CISTEC), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOF). The seminar addresses mainly Asian countries government officials in charge of export control, and aimed at stepping up Asian and international efforts toward non-proliferation of WMDs. About 160 people from 17 Asian countries and regions and 7 other countries and regions attended this seminar.
