MAYSpring Planting-Landscape Smart: Be Firewise®Many popular landscape trees and shrubs planted around homes may also be flammable. Arborvitaes and laurels contain oils and resins that burn when dry. Prune vegetation away from your home and plant fire-resistant plants to help protect your home from wildfire.

AUGUSTHappy 75th Birthday, Smokey Bear!Smokey Bear was born on August 9, 1944. He became a beloved symbol for fire prevention and for the longest-running public service advertising campaign in U.S. history. The Ad Council, the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters employ Smokey Bear to educate the public about the dangers of unplanned, human-caused wildfires.
