50 - 203The Synthesis of Oxa-Analogues of the Kainoid Family. — Witha view to obtaining biologically interesting compounds, the title analoguessuch as (XII) are synthesized. Several approaches for the deprotection of theintermediates (VIII) to the desired products fail. It is interesting that thereaction of (XI) with Zn/HCOOH leads to the corresponding 5-epimers of (XII)exclusively.
