Chemistry Honors or Chemistry Specialization — both our undergraduate programs build a foundation for success.

• Lay the groundwork for advanced study or post-graduate work. Appropriate GPA and research experience allows you to enter Masters or Ph.D programs across North America and Europe.

• Perform academic or industrial research to help get you involved — the earlier the better!

• Prepare for employment as a B.Sc. chemist working in industry.

• Form connections within the department — you will have access to academic advising within the department and, if you participate in research, mentoring by faculty supervisors as you progress in your degree.

GO BROADThen begin specialization

The Department of Chemistry allows you to build a solid set of core courses. Once the fundamentals are in place, you can choose from senior chemistry options in your own area of interest, including:

• Bioanalytical Chemistry

• Bioconjugate Chemistry

• Computational Chemistry

• Molecular Spectroscopy and Dynamics

• Organic Synthesis

• Separations and Mass Spectrometry

• Synthesis and Application of Inorganic and Nano-materials

• X-ray Crystallography

The Department of Chemistry offers the opportunity to build practical, working knowledge as well as valuable research experience.

Hands-on Experience You will gain extensive laboratory experience in courses as a part of your core learning. Labs are delivered by a working group of faculty, laboratory coordinators, and graduate teaching assistants.

Research Experience Start gaining valuable research experience as early as your second year with CHEM 299, a course designed to get you into the lab and working early. You can finish your degree with up to a full year of advanced academic research in CHEM 401 and 403, taken in your last year.

Summer ResearchApply for funding and spend your summer working on a project.

GET REALIntegrate professional experience

5

Get real-world work experience before you graduate, and explore where your B.Sc. can take you after graduation.

After three years of study, integrate paid work experience into your academic studies with the Science Internship Program — open to all undergraduate science students.

• Clarify your strengths, interests, and goals.

• Apply classroom knowledge to hands-on, real-life situations.

• Graduate with a resume packed with relevant, paid work experience.
