    CATALOG DESCRIPTION:

    This course prepares entry level laboratory technicians to manage and coordinate the

    activities that contribute to a safe and well-run laboratory. It builds on the technical and

    scientific knowledge and skills gained through their study program. Topic covered

    provides a study of the basic scientific concepts of refining processes and laboratory

    procedures and management skills related to refinery operations. It is designed to prepare

    students to meet employer needs for scientific technicians trained in both the sciences and

    the management of laboratory activities.

    PREREQUISITE: N/A

    CO-REQUISITE: None

    PREREQUISITE BY TOPIC:

    2.02. State the physical properties and characteristics of fuels.

    2.03. State the physical properties and characteristics of lubricants.

    2.04. State the physical properties and characteristics of waxes.

    2.05. State the physical properties and characteristics of asphalts.

    2.06. State the physical properties and characteristics of petroleum residues.

    REQUIRED FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT:

    The course will be taught in the Chemical Engineering technology laboratories,workshops and classroom areas at YIC, supplemented with tools, materials and audio-

    visual aids.
