    ClichsEnd by Glen Wells

    Author Unknown or otherwise anonymous

You are certainly not bothering me. On the contrary, Im grateful foranyone that actually seeks out communication with me, or even foranyone that will put up with me for a very short time, even in cyber-reality. So, any time you want to talk about something, write mewithout reservation and without apology.

In fact, knowing you are a keen observer of life and people, Iminclined to think you might be asking me these questions as much formy benefit as for anything else. That is, I have to wonder if you, having no doubt gathered that I am currently in a bit of an existentialfunk, a self-esteem slump, a lonely spot, etc. etc., might be initiatingthese conversations at least partly out of sheer kindness or even pity.

To be honest, it makes no difference to me whatsoever.

To my understanding, a clich is an idea or a way of expressing anidea that was once original and carried a distinct meaning, but due tobeing reused and repeated numerous times within a culture, thatmeaning has become diluted or commonplace.

    http://people.tribe.net/glenwells/blog/e1f8b3fd-0cad-4901-b555-a7c0afaced6ahttp://people.tribe.net/glenwells/blog/e1f8b3fd-0cad-4901-b555-a7c0afaced6a

So what we are asking is this: will humans be able to continue comingup with original ideas indefinitely or will the supply eventually run outso that every possible idea or expression of an idea will be just arehash of an older one with no meaningful change or addition?

Artistic ideas and expressions are our attempts to capture someaspect of the human experience as we see it. As such, it seems to methat in order for the supply of possible new ideas to run out, thehuman experience would have to be static, and in order for humans tocontinue to come up with new ideas indefinitely, the humanexperience would have to continue to change. That is, if the humanexperience was static, or became static, people could still find newand original ways to express the nature of that experience for a verylong time, but eventually every expression would be a redundancy.

On the other hand, if the human experience is always changing, thenit will always be possible to come up with new ideas and expressionsreflecting that experience.

So, is the human experience the same as it has always been, or is itever-changing?Some people believe that everything is already a clich. They quotethe old adage, There is nothing new under the sun. They believethat the human experience has always been essentially the same; it

has not changed in any meaningful way. People through all time havehad essentially the same feelings, thoughts, fears, dreams, hopes, desires, and questions, and only insignificant external details havechanged. Just because we are driving cars and using computers andwatching television does not mean the human experience has reallychanged in any real way so as to provide for the possibility of newideas regarding that experience.

I think there is a lot of truth in that argument. I have no doubt thatmany of the dreams, fears, and desires of a man living in Egypt 4,000

years ago would closely resemble many of my own. For example, hemight feel lonely yet be unsure of how to create meaningful bondswith those around him. Additionally, one might point as evidence tothe fact that several themes and archetypes in ancient literature stillrecur today. For that matter, one might point as evidence to the factthat we still find meaning in ancient literature at all. If the humanexperience wasnt essentially the same, would we still be able to

connect meaningfully to ideas expressed by Homer nearly 3,000 yearsago?

As for me, I do think that we will continue to be able to come up withoriginal ideas and expressions.

I do think the human experience is dynamic. Yes, the past plays alarge part in making us who we are, and we probably share more incommon with humans of 3,000 years ago than most people realize. However, the way we experience life and the world goes beyond thosecommon, easily identifiable strands. The things that the nothing-new-under-the-sun folks might consider insignificant details interms of impacting the human experience I think turn out to be fairlysignificant after all. What I mean is that I think the human experience

is defined at least in part by the details and the externalities.

I think to say the human experience is the same as it was 1,000 oreven 100 years ago is absurd. I guess it can be difficult to tell any twothings apart if you stand far enough away.

    How

How do I know what I think, until I read what I write.

How does thought know what thinks until reading what is written.

Joyce wrote...you are not reading what I wrote.

Reading a kind of time manifold of past to now,

    or now from then.

While reading thoughts, there are still current thoughts.

Although it's possible to give all of oneself away...temporarily.

It is the nature of entropy that it is temporal and impermanent.

    Tragedy: The Philosophy of Pessimism

Here, when the danger to his will is greatest, art approaches as a saving

sorceress, expert at healing. She alone knows how to turn these nauseous

thoughts about the horror or absurdity of existence into notions with which

one can live: these are the sublime as the artistic taming of the horrible, and the comic as the artistic discharge of the nausea of absurdity.

~Nietzsche from The Birth of Tragedy

To while away the midnight hours and get some sun to rise again as fresh

as the first day was made.

    250 words or less

This is an approximation or graphical description of Something

worthwhile...for example...just before a 'Big Bang' or something. As you can

see, there are three components. A platform, a rod and an arrow ordirection, followed by a trail or tail, it's a little like plate or saucer spinning.

In some sense 'an immovable object and an irresistible force plus what is

not always necessarily constantly neutral, aka 'A sweet spot.

Now it may be best or better than smashing pumpkins to imagine how IO,

IF and SS manifest, at this late, or even early if it could only seem that way

more often, date. Another description that perhaps is apt is expression of

dimensions, which seems essentially, at times, a set and setting, from all ofwhich so much, depends. What appears as rigid, will later bend and the

spinner seemingly detach. That 'seemingly' is a crucible, where fire of

creation forges to make anvils for resistance and hammers to make a beat,

at first is a rhythm, stretching into rhyme, and totally without reason breaks

out and in dance. Life, so soon, without a chance of late, soon begins in.

    Plane

A plane is any surface. Planes can arise as subspaces of some space, as

with the walls of a room, or they may enjoy an independent existence in

their own right. As you may see, planes can be personified, objectified,

have a presence, as well as achieving disappearance.

She said, "Am I talking to a wall?" I, not at all a wall, who at least feels

compelled to profess illusions of some independent existence and quite

convinced with pounds of mounting proof and evidence of some substantial

    and welcomed interdependent other existences.

Replied, "No, you are talking from a wall." Of course I had no idea if this

were true or not, outward appearance did not suggest a wall, although Isuspect a metaphoric barrier might have been implied. Space is an entity, a

relationship between entities, or part of a conceptual framework.

As far as I can tell, oh let me whisper it instead, I am surrounded by space,

covered, very nearly sometimes it seems lathered with it.

~ "Happiness is an inside job." ~

As it works its way out into the world

some places it acts like triage

others like a long lost friend

    almost always welcomed

and it's just a tip of a hat

    a sometime fragile smile.

    What's that?that seems as news...

    is old

    yet like a classic line

    draws more ears than tongues

    awakens hearts to remember

    there's laughter in the hills

Freedom of religious worship and expression is essential to human

dignity -- which makes blocking the construction of a mosque for religious

reasons a violation of Christian belief. And laws preventing the building of

churches in Mecca or Riyadh do not make this principle less important

    here.

    www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...90.html

    By Michael Gerson

Every religious tradition has two competing visions. First, religion may be a

source of tribal identity. This was the norm for centuries in Western history. The Christian church jostled for social power along with other interests,

pursuing a tribal agenda at the expense of Jews, heretics at home and

Muslims abroad. The goal was to see Christian theological beliefs publicly

recognized and favored. This remains a temptation in the United States

and a problem in much of the world, where the appeal of the tribe remains

    strong.

But Christianity, as an Abrahamic faith, sets out another vision -- an

assertion of human worth and dignity that transcends tribe and nation.

Christianity has accommodated this belief in slow, halting, often hypocritical

stages -- a history that should leave Christians tolerant of the slow, halting,

hypocritical progress of other traditions. The implications of this shift within

Christianity, however, are profound. In light of this belief, the purpose of

social influence for Christians is not to favor their own faith; it is to serve a

view of universal rights and dignity taught by their faith. It is not to advance

their own creed; it is to apply that creed in pursuit of the common good.

This is what turns religion into a positive social force -- a determination to

    defend everyone's dignity.

I don't understand how an Abrahamic faith is attributed

with an assertion of human worth. All the Abrahamic

scriptures sing very loudly in a very different tone.

I begrudgingly grant the 'right' to indulge in evil thoughts,

but cannot endorse Abrahamic monotheism - even were

its origins not in genocide, its history not so defined by

violence and oppression, its modern cults not so

shockingly hate-fueled, its tenets are unacceptably vile.

The belittlement of humanity extends to not only the foul

Other but of the simple Self.

The only thing more frustrating than the idiocy of the

outcry against this mosque was the plan to build it in the

first place. No one, no one can plausibly drape this plan

in the colors of reconciliation or outreach in today's world.

It is simply hatefulness all the way around. I truly wish the

enterprise of religion to cease immediately. Its

organizations are as corrupt and villainous as any. That

hate-driven Christians plan to burn a Q'uran is only

noteworthy in that they are receiving attention for it nowand that only because suddenly it is topical in a way that

is titillating and provocative to the majority of other

    Muslims and Christians.

That said, freedom of religion!, bitches: first dickhead to

try to stop it with anything but words needs a vicious

bootdown and a three month vacance at County Camp.

    Theism

I guess you had to be there to appreciate any worth itmight have had at the time of its discovery.

Probably got a lot of laughs, first time heard around the

campfire, probably was forgotten, only to be revived in

quiet moments of contemplation. Trying to personify God

actually makes a lot of sense, even if the ear getting bent

was a machine recorder. Personifying religion is more

like calling out your Dad, but not to his face, and not

doing where it might somehow get back to him.

I'd grant that Judaism introduced a concept of compassion for

food once they settled down from marching pace to place and

killing every single man woman n' bairn in sight; I'd even grant that

the ablutions used by soldiers on the Seventh Day to try to cope

with the absolute horror of what they were doing eventually

evolved into some neat rituals; but that's about it. I was a lot more

sympathetic about Christianity's origins until I studied up on them.

Islam... well.... once again I have to go to the rituals to find the

worth, and there it is aesthetic and not spiritual per se worth that I

    discover.

If these theologies were not so horrendously evil I could try to

make some case for them - would, by nature, surely - but in thewash I just can't. It's a hill of lies draped around excuses for

    murder. ~Loki

Well I don't understand what someone else did can have to do with

what happens next. It's not like you can follow in their footsteps. I

personally don't have the means, motive and opportunity. And

perhaps more importantly, no desire to obtain them.

But then you are touching on some weird forms of functional

insanity. Of course I mean terribly fucked up and not in a good way

at all. Remember they indict themselves, not their banner or

bandanna, or crest, or secret handshake, these 'accessories' of

style, forms of debatable substances, masquerading or just

raiding. Truly if they had something better to do, they would be

    doing it.

...and occasionally some actually do...there's the real Terror...something that cannot be defeated.

    Like me.

    And you.

Of course that means no surrender, well not any obvious one.

    Alas...Brave words don't require action.

5 Things You Can Do TODAY To Get Happier!

    www.bluezones.com/

    Written by Dan Buettner

    1. INVEST IN YOUR HEALTH Health is a prerequisite to happiness. In

other words, You can't be happy if you're unhealthy. Eating wisely and

moving naturally are the best way to get fit

    2. CREATE QUALITY FRIENDSHIPS When it comes to a social

network, quality is more important the quantity. Having two good friends

who care about you whether your chips are up or down is more

important than a huge network. We often forget that friends rarely come

on their own accord: they require effort, time and nurturing.3. EXPLORE YOUR RELIGION World surveys show that religious

people are more happy than non-religious people. Religious people are

more likely to have a strong social network and to be at peace with their

lives and mortality. What to do: if you have a religion, make and effort to

reconnect with it. If not, visit four new religous communities in the next

three months and see if any of them align with your values.

    4. SPEND MORE TIME WITH YOUR HOBBY Build a model, knit a

sweater, climb a cliff, cook a gourmet meal. The point is to spend time

engaged in activities wherein you are optimally challenged, you get

immediate feedback, you lose sense of time and you do it because it's

intrinsically rewarding. Psychologist Mihaly Cskszentmihlyi identifies this

state as the state of flow. It is perhaps the best way to achieve authentic

    sustainable happiness.

    5. IF YOU'RE UNHAPPY, MOVE Where you live has a bigger impact on

your happiness than your marital status, income, or even education level.

If you are not happy where you are, consider moving. World-wide studies

show that the happiest places on earth are not tropical islands but place

where you feel secure, people around you have the same level of status

as you do and it's easy to find a job that is interesting.

As always easier said than done.

    But that's the challenge.

    a conspiracy from within

a fall from grace, from familiar trusted sources does not usually occur

from an original source but from lineage, some that are raised from

scratch, or as needed from recruitment, plants enter in as many ways that

    can be procured.

outside of honesty, fairness and friendly support in times of greatest need

and challenge, no one asks for much, especially that which can be done

for and with their immediate surroundings, power cannot corrupt merely

from its use, a plan, a motive (for change) and opportunity (to alter a

nominal condition) is required to turn to corruption, once trust isbroken and lost, into this breach, a flood of opposition moves in to assume

    control.

"Better to have lofty ideas than to have none at all." - Vonnegut

No economy should be stuck in a position of growth without development,

    nor development without growth.

As the unidentified wag said, "An idealist believes the short-run doesn't

count. A cynic believes the long-run doesn't matter, the realist believes

what is done or left undone in the short-run determines the long haul."

The question is not...Are we standing at the threshold of a new age?

    But...Why aren't we in a new age?

And to answer it...Yes we are. Let no excuse deter, no naysayer

dissuade. Yes...Stand up and start walking, like you are there. Thus

longing and desire is not satisfied until you are there.

    Nature of Cultural Genesis Beginnings

    Culture/Nature/Groups:

Concepts are abstractions measured by the degree that they are related

to ongoing behavior streams, Culture is not only the content of minds, but

are also patterns of measurable behavior. People in separate culturesdiffer in the way they think and how they behave, how they make a living,

according to the content of their social, artistic and ritual activities.

Difference between concepts and categories applied by culture members

to their own lives and the world they live in - are distinct from categories

used by anthropologists in describing and understanding them.

"The Crime Against Humanity" by Marvin Harris

It is a crime because the real alternative to science is not anarchy but

ideology. Not peaceful artists, philosophers and anthropologists, but

aggressive fanatics and messiahs eager to annihilate each other and the

whole world if need be to prove their point.

the dead, who really are clueless about everything that happens after they

So as the words drip and dry from deaf ears, the hollow laughter echoes

aren't you glad there may not be one, at this point no educated guesses

What could be more relevant to you than your own name?

Nothing could be more than or perhaps same as, yet some 'what'could be as relevant or almost as relevant, or certainly as near asrelevant, dependent on opportunity or availability.

What is the organization of the living? What takes place in the phenomenon of perception.

AutopoiesisThe term was originally introduced by Chilean biologists HumbertoMaturana and Francisco Varela in 1972:An autopoietic machine is a machine organized (defined as a unity) asa network of processes of production (transformation and

destruction) of components which: (i) through their interactions andtransformations continuously regenerate and realize the network ofprocesses (relations) that produced them; and (ii) constitute it (themachine) as a concrete unity in space in which they (the components)exist by specifying the topological domain of its realization as such anetwork.[] the space defined by an autopoietic system is self-contained andcannot be described by using dimensions that define another space. When we refer to our interactions with a concrete autopoietic system,

however, we project this system on the space of our manipulationsand make a description of this projection.

Space may be continuous and not, may be discrete as well as immuneto homogenization, and space may not refer only to location/place,there may be other dimensions that do not relate nor so much astranscend as to extend notions of where and even how, as to why.

    Is Gravity Electrically Neutral?

Electricity and Magnetism are thought to be inseparable. As if to have stood alone, two Its cease to exist, vanish into thin air.One becomes not the other but joins to be a Two.And Gravity acting as a pulley, some downright bully, acting as if from a pulpit,at once giving a flight or to bring all crashing to close encounter withsomething larger, massive by sheer size, that it engulfs and swallows whole the tinyfragments, we call life.

If Life does not take hold in one place,Life will be found in another, and eventually return to that place where it had tried and failed, and whether it stays or strays is not a question of if but when, cause the places have faces and memories of kinder, gentler placesand even then its the places that changeand grow into a place where Life will dwell again.Meanwhile that's why some radical approaches are so in favor.0h well at least by some pioneering free radicals, (as well as thesequestered)for some accelerating moments, answers fly faster than an eye cansee,or an ear hear, value of discoveries lie in their results posted on alampshade,in some private refrain, bounds a train of thoughts leading onand sometimes in to another.

Relativity treats gravity as a limited manifestation of macroscopicallycurved space and timeand perhaps not even able to manifest in microscopically curved ornot interior space. So, maybe there is no outer of the inner, so this between is a matter oflayers, perhaps a kind of skin separating interior and exterior.Just because there is strong and weak nuclear force is there instead, perhaps gravity cannot manifest at all without curved space and time.Inside the atom theres not enough mass for such a closed andlimited fieldto cause or need some attraction and any repulsion,

What is consciousness? It may not have occurred to a singular consciousness to answer whatis being asked, without assuming identities that mediate.Consciousness has no single or precise definition, what it has ismultiple and imprecise definitions, the isness has periodic memory, awareness, emotions, thoughts and identity that are actions to

    Infinite infinities, if necessary.

So, imagine a possibility of an unnecessary infinity, if that infinity hadan imaginative ability, that alone could make it necessary, if only toitself, but there could be a problem of deciding between necessaryand unnecessary, if the possibility of being unnecessary ever wasimagined.

Which leads to the possibility of imagining an unnecessary infinitythat could not have an imaginative ability and by that 'only' existed bythe imaginative qualities of a necessary infinity.

In order to avoid unnecessary mistakes, imagining

an infinity as unnecessary could follow some of Marshal McLuhan'ssimplest of rules or what he called Laws of Communication.Necessary is what does these things:1. Enhance

    2. Retrieve3. Reverse4. Obsolesce

With these needs in mind, unnecessary could be of a temporary, intermittent, periodic, or transitory nature or way. By being episodic,so to speak, there becomes one less infinity, since its occasional oroften absence would exclude it from being infinite, thus there is oneless infinity, which might leave some space or imaginative thought tohave a new, shiny and wholly necessary infinity.

Who Says Words With My Mouth?by Rumi

All day I think about it,then at night I say it.Where did I come from, and what am I supposed to be doing?

I have no idea.My soul is from elsewhere,I'm sure of that, and I intend to end up there. This drunkennessbegan in some other tavern. When I get back aroundto that place,I'll be completely sober.Meanwhile, I'm like a birdfrom another continent, sitting in this aviary. The day is coming when I fly off,but who is it now in my earwho hears my voice?Who says words with my mouth?

Who looks out with my eyes? What is the soul?I cannot stop asking. If I could tasteone sip of an answer,I could break outof this prison for drunks.I didn't come here of my own accord, and I can't leave that way.Whoever brought me herewill have to take me home. This poetry,I never knowwhat I'm going to say.

I don't plan it.When I'm outside the saying of it,I get very quietand rarely speak at all.

From Americana by Don DeLillothe babbling infant simply bathes in the river which is languagewithout thought.

As rendered by Thomas Pynchon, these lines from the twenty-ninth ofRilkes Sonnets to Orpheus represent a subjectivity realized inlanguage:And though Earthliness forget you,To the stilled Earth say: I flow.To the rushing water speak: I am.A man walks into a bar. The Appendage:

I can't recall the diatribe at the moment.

So why did you write it? Maybe you have already answeredthat. No I do not think you are commonly out of line oroverbearing. I like your posts and think there is a lot ofhumor in them, very important to me. I wish to express morehumor myself. As far as pulling in your horns goes, I guesssome good natured needling doesn't do much harm; at leastit doesn't have to hurt. We be big boys and girls in mindxafter all.

Well sometimes. It's rather an interesting sort of family to getinvolved with and you will do well to stay and enjoy theexchanges. Some do go round and round, including all. Theconflict is not some great concern, so long as no hardfeelings taken too far, or even at all.Knowing how we are perceived can be tricky for all; we arenot alone in that. We get understood and misunderstood, andoften there is no one to really blame or give all that much

credit to. I try not to sweat it and know that I can change itsome, but cannot really change someone else or even wantto try. Over all you are doing fine, it's good to ask though, and thanks for noticing my heart and head, it took some workand really just being myself, funny to say, it seems natural tome, but surely don't always express it in words all thatclearly. I won't try and compare my own solitary nature; itcan be rough, no matter what the circumstance that brings itabout. I hope that you keep on mindx, you would be missed. Iam not one to judge too much, right now I 'conflict' somewith Preduction Boy, I meant prediction, so that was a lamesort of joke, as long as it's in words, there is hope for furtherdiscussion, (there have been others too) not a big deal.Well I could ramble on some more, but it is getting late andearly too.
