CONCEPT Calatrava inspired by themes and

designs in nature for the tall, twisting skyscraper.

Relates the building's newly designed pinnacle to the "graceful" and "rotating forms" of a snail shell.

Initially known as The Fordham Spire

Functions:- The inspiration from

seashell, narwhale tusk or cactus reduce wind force around the building.

The wind force also provide the building a greater structural strength with reduction in material.

SECURITY IN CEMENT BeCAUSE CONCRETE CAN WITHSTAND HIGH

TEMPERATURES, STAIRWELLS ARE BUILT INSIDE THE CORE TO PROTTECT THEM FROM FIRE.

THE CORE SERVES AS THE SPINE, WHICH STABILIZES AND SUPPORTS THE BUILDING’S LOAD

ROTATING FLOORS EACH FLOOR TURNS ABOUT 2

DEGREES FROM THE FLOOR BELOW IT AND MAKE IT LOOK AS THOUGH THE TOWER IS TWISTING.

ALL FLOORS ROTATE A TOTAL OF 270 DEGRESS FROM THE BASE TO TOP

Sustainable Features Additionally, the Chicago Spire was designed with world-

class sustainable engineering practices to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold recognition.

Sustainable features – recycled rainwater, river water used for cooling, ornithologically-sensitive glass to protect migratory

birds intelligent building and management systems, waste storage and recycling management, and monitored outdoor air delivery
